After a repeat of Wednesday's close and the titles, Barnabas tells Quentin that no one besides Julia knows about Quentin's portrait and where it is "safely hidden." Quentin can't think of any other reason for "such curiosity about that attic." Barnabas wonders aloud what Anderson could possibly want with Quentin's portrait, even if he did somehow know about it. Quentin thinks Anderson may need it to take over Collinwood. "After all, it keeps me from my curse and from aging. Perhaps it would also keep me from falling under the vampire's influence. But if he had the portrait, he could use it to try to control me." Barnabas nods in agreement, and decides that Quentin must somehow get the portrait out of Collinwood so that they can hide it in "a safe place that none of them know about." Quentin is interested.
Quentin and Barnabas go to Collinwood. Roger greets Barnabas, but looks over Quentin in a strange way. Barnabas asks Roger where Liz and Carolyn are, and Roger says that they have gone out. Barnabas asks Roger to join him in the study for a business discussion that "frankly, Quentin, may leave you somewhat bored." Quentin agrees and heads upstairs as Barnabas leads a somewhat reluctant Roger to the study. Barnabas stops a moment to look back at Quentin with a smile.
Quentin unlocks the door to the attic and heads up the staircase. His portrait sits on an easel with a cloth covering it. Quentin lifts the cloth for a moment, and we see the image of an aged and decaying Quentin on the canvas. He takes a long sigh contemplating his strange fate, and then covers it with the cloth again before taking it off the easel and down the steps. Back in the study, Roger and Barnabas are sipping some sherry while Barnabas asks Roger about the possibilities of investing in "various properties along the coast" in Collinsport. Roger scoffs at the notion, reminding Barnabas how many houses along the rocky coast have "sat empty for years, nary a buyer in sight." Roger recommends that Barnabas stay away from such ventures, and Barnabas thanks him for his advice, and says he will "concentrate on his business ventures in England for the time being." As Roger starts to leave the study, Barnabas starts noticing various objects and paintings in the room and badgers Roger about them, trying to buy Quentin more time. Roger is delayed somewhat, but manages to get out of the study ahead of Barnabas. Quentin is coming down the steps with the portrait when he hears Roger and Barnabas approaching, and freezes.
As Barnabas and Roger approach, Quentin takes the portrait and heads back through the hallway doors, right before Roger enters the foyer. Barnabas is still trying to stall him, but Roger starts heading upstairs, telling Barnabas he is tired and Barnabas can let himself out. Barnabas looks up the stairs for a moment, worrying about Quentin, when he hears a sound from the drawing room. In the drawing room, Quentin has come in through the secret panel from the west wing with the portrait. Barnabas tells him the coast is clear, and the two of them leave Collinwood in a hurry with the portrait.
At the Eagle Hill mausoleum, Quentin and Barnabas enter with the portrait. Barnabas tells Quentin that it should be safe in the secret room, and opens the door by pulling on the ring. They bring the portrait inside, but then Barnabas says he feels a cold wind. Quentin says he doesn't feel anything, and then Barnabas looks up and sees a glowing light. The light gets bigger, and from the center of it appears Angelique.

Quentin and Julia are bringing Barnabas up to date on what they have discovered. They wonder why Anderson has targeted the Collins family. "Perhaps it's because I imprisoned Roxanne," Barnabas surmises. "Perhaps," says Quentin, "but I suppose we'll never know.... until we find him ask him." They look at each other considering the prospect of facing Anderson.
After the titles, Quentin has returned to Collinwood and finds Daphne in the drawing room. She is happy to see him, but he is now suspicious of her. He asks her how much she knows about Professor Anderson, and she answers that Anderson had no problem with her leaving her previous position to work at Collinwood. "I'm sure he didn't," answers Quentin. Daphne is unsure why Quentin is acting this way. "It's been very warm in Collinsport recently," Quentin suddenly says. "Unseasonable for such a rainy and stormy place." Daphne agrees, and then Quentin suddenly asks her if she always wears turtleneck sweaters in such warm weather. Daphne looks at him scared.
Daphne tells Quentin he is not acting like himself, and excuses herself from the room. Quentin tries to follow her, but bumps into Carolyn. He apologizes, but Carolyn looks off towards the stairs while leading Quentin back into the drawing room. She starts to make small talk while Quentin continues to try to follow Daphne. Quentin asks Carolyn why she's keeping him there, something Carolyn slyly denies. Quentin gets by her and goes upstairs to Daphne's room, and finds it locked. He is about to knock at her door when he hears noises coming from down the hall.
Quentin goes down the hall and hears some voices coming from around the corner. He peeks around, and sees Liz and Roger trying various keys in a door. Quentin hears footsteps behind him, and ducks into a closet. It's Carolyn, who moves to Roger and Liz as they try more keys. Liz can't understand it since she thought she had every key to every room in the house. Carolyn tells her that they need to get into the attic since "it must be there. We've looked everywhere else." They continue to try keys as Quentin takes a key ring out of his pocket and fingers a particular key while looking very concerned.
Quentin has returned to the old house and tells Barnabas about what has happened. Barnabas tells him that it will be sundown soon and that they can try to track down Anderson if he is active. "Perhaps if Roxanne returns to Collinwood, we can follow her at dawn if they are together," suggests Barnabas. Quentin says that he thinks Anderson is planning on returning to Collinwood himself. After a repeat of Monday's close and the titles, we are at the Blue Whale. Sebastian is at the bar, drinking and looking depressed when Quentin and Julia enter. Quentin walks to the bar and tells Sebastian they need to talk. Sebastian remarks that "all I need to do is drink." Quentin buys him a drink and says "Now you can drink and we can talk." Sebastian tells him there's nothing to talk about. Julia tells him it concerns Roxanne and is very important. Sebastian tells her "You're asking the wrong man," before "hmphing" and going back to his drink. Quentin spins him around on his stool and grabs him by the collar saying "Well Shaw, then tell me who the right man is."
At the college, Stokes is coming out of his office when he sees Julia, Quentin and Sebastian. He says hello, and Quentin asks if Professor Anderson is around. Stokes says he isn't, but should back later that evening, "though I haven't seen him in some time. I do hope he is not ill." Sebastian looks nervous for a moment, and gets even antiser when Quentin starts asking Stokes how much he knows about Anderson and what his background is. Stokes tells Quentin that while Anderson has only been with the college a few months, his references were "impeccable." Quentin tells Stokes that he suspects Anderson knows more about Roxanne than he's letting on. Stokes puts his monocle in and says "Really?"
In Stokes' office, Stokes has been brought up to date by Quentin and Julia, and now knows that Sebastian was once Roxanne's servant. Sebastian claims that Roxanne no longer has any kind of hold on him. Quentin tells him he's certainly acting like a person under someone's power, and Sebastian gets evasive. Quentin grows more menacing to Sebastian as he tells him he knows he's hiding something, and if it endangers the Collins family or Daphne, he'll be very sorry, "very very sorry indeed, Shaw." Sebastian laughs at the notion of Daphne being in danger, and Quentin grabs him by the collar and asks him what he means by that. Sebastian answers "Ask Anderson."
Quentin lets Sebastian go, and Sebastian says "Yes, Anderson. There, I said it! I can't let him have power over me!" Julia says "Him?" and Sebastian tells them that Anderson has some kind of power over Roxanne, but he's not sure how much. When they press him on what kind of power, Sebastian admits that Anderson is "one of them" and that he could "prove" the connection with the photograph he discovered among Roxanne's things, but Anderson forced him to turn it over. Quentin and Julia think about the likelihood that Anderson is really controlling Carolyn, Roger and now Liz, and Stokes tells Sebastian that he will research Anderson's background to try to "hunt him down" since "If what Mr. Shaw says is true, he will surely never return here."

Quentin returns to Collinwood later that night and finds Liz having a drink in the drawing room. He remarks how he's never seen her up this late before, and she snaps at him "What exactly do you mean by that?" He raises an eyebrow as we cut to the titles.
Liz apologizes to Quentin for her behavior, and tells him it's been a "trying day." When Quentin asks why, Liz explains how Roger had changed his mind about sending David away, and how she has hired a new governess. Quentin asks when he will get to meet this woman, and Liz tells him he already has, since she has hired Daphne. "Daphne?" Quentin says, surprised. "I thought you'd be pleased most of all," answers Liz. "since you have already become friends with her. I thought you could help to familiarize her with Collinwood." "I'm not sure how I feel about all of this," says Quentin. "You don't have to mentor her, Quentin, just help her to feel at home," says Liz. "After all, this will be her home from now on." Quentin contemplates this for a moment.
The next morning, Quentin is sitting by himself in the drawing room when Julia enters. He tells her that Liz has hired Daphne to be David's new governess. Julia is surprised to see him brooding over this, expecting him to be pleased. "In a way I am pleased," he tells her, "but I'm not used to my cousin Elizabeth acting the way she did last night." Julia grows more concerned and asks him what he means, and he tells her how there seemed to be something different about Elizabeth, as there is about Roger and Carolyn the past few days. Julia asks Quentin if he's seen any marks on her neck just as Liz enters the room, wearing a scarf.
Liz says hello to Julia, and Julia makes some small talk before looking to Quentin for a moment, and then remarking on Liz's outfit. "Is that a new dress, Elizabeth? I don't think I've ever seen it before," she says. Liz remarks she's had it for years. "And that scarf, it goes lovely with it. I wonder how that color would look with my outfit. Can I borrow it for a second?" The question seems to scare Liz quite a bit, and after fumbling words a bit, she suddenly remembers she "has an appointment in the village" and will be back later. Liz hurries out of the room, grabs a coat and leaves. Julia looks over to Quentin and they both seem to understand.
Julia is convinced Liz was hiding the bite marks, and thinks "that Roxanne may be trying to take over Collinwood by enslaving all who live here." Quentin tells her it was Professor Anderson that was invited to dinner last night, not Roxanne. Quentin is convinced there must be a connection between them. Julia asks Quentin how they might find out about this possibility, and Quentin tells her that "the only way may be to find Sebastian Shaw."

After a replay of Thursday's "closing argument" and the titles, Carolyn answers the door at Collinwood and greets Professor Anderson, who has come for dinner. She brings him into the drawing room where Sebastian is having a drink. Anderson says hello in a menacing way, and Sebastian becomes very docile. Carolyn goes to get Roger and Liz. "You know this is wrong," Sebastian tells Anderson. Anderson grabs him by the collar and tells him that he and only he will decide right from wrong. He drops Sebastian back into the sofa right before Roger and Liz enter the room. Anderson greets them gallantly, kissing Liz's hand while Roger and Carolyn look at each other knowingly.
Barnabas wonders if Sebastian may know where to find Roxanne, since he had once been her servant. He thinks she may have sought him out first. Julia asks Barnabas if he thinks Sebastian had "rigged" the seance to free her, but Barnabas doesn't think so. "With Stokes and Anderson there, it seems unlikely he could have pulled some sort of trick," says Barnabas, but Quentin is suspicious of Anderson. "We know we can trust Stokes, but what about Anderson? There's something about him I just don't like," says Quentin. Julia and Barnabas are curious.
Anderson remarks on how much he enjoyed dinner, and Roger answers that it's "always a rarity when Mrs. Johnson doesn't overcook the fish." Liz tells Anderson that they invited him over to ask him something very important, but before she can finish, Roger then asks Anderson point-blank if he would mind if Daphne was offered a job as governess at Collinwood. "Liz wants to interview her first, of course," says Roger with a strange nod towards Liz. Anderson looks over to Liz, and smiles with "Well, I am sure Mrs. Stoddard will find nothing to worry about."
Barnabas asks Quentin if he knows anything about Anderson, and Quentin says he only has a bad feeling about him. Barnabas asks him if that feeling is jealousy over Daphne, which Quentin angrily denies. Quentin tells Barnabas that he intends to find out everything he can about Professor Anderson, because "I can't help feeling he's hiding something from us, from all of us."
Liz cannot believe how easily Anderson is willing to let Daphne go, but Anderson points out that there are many graduate students available to be assistants to him, and if Roger and the family have "affinity for Miss Hopkins, far be it from me to interfere with an opportunity for her." Carolyn has opened the bay window in the room and is looking outside, when Liz feels a chill. She gets up to close the window over Carolyn's objection - but when she swings it to close, she notices the reflections of people in one of the glass panes - she sees Sebastian, Carolyn and Roger, but not Anderson! She looks back at him talking to Roger, then back at the window. Her terror is growing when suddenly, Anderson pulls the window shut and stands before her. He glides his hand over it, showing no reflection, and coldly stares at Liz. "I'm sorry you saw that, my dear Mrs. Stoddard," he says, "Very sorry indeed," as he opens his mouth baring vampire fangs. Liz screams.

At Collinwood, Roger is pouring himself a drink when Liz enters and asks him why he changed his mind about sending David away. He evades the question at first, but then tells Liz that he wants to keep his son around a little longer. Liz is touched by this, and remarks how David will have to grow up and "leave the nest" at some point, but Roger counters that he already has a governess in mind.
Liz asks Roger who, and he replies "I was thinking of Professor Anderson's lovely young assistant, Miss Hopkins. David seemed quite taken with her, and I'm sure we could do better for her financially than the college." Liz wonders how qualified Daphne may be in dealing with children and what her background is, questions which Roger dismisses. Liz brings up that Daphne may be growing involved with Quentin, and that this might be awkward, but Roger points out how Victoria Winters had become close to Barnabas without it hurting her job. Liz sits and sadly reflects on Victoria for a moment, and comments on how she misses her. Roger asks Liz not to start an argument over Daphne, and offers to let Liz interview her to make sure.
At the old house, Quentin has told Barnabas and Julia about the strange behavior in Carolyn and Roger. Julia looks for logical explanations, but Barnabas insists that they somehow, subtly, look for fang marks on them both. Quentin says that he will try to quietly watch both Roger and Carolyn and see if their hunch is right.
Carolyn and Sebastian have arrived at Collinwood. Liz and Roger tell them about wanting to interview Daphne, but Liz then remarks on how Professor Anderson may not be willing to let her go so easily. Carolyn suggests inviting Anderson over to dinner to discuss the matter, since she's sure he'll be very reasonable about it. Sebastian looks uncomfortable with this, but a glare from Carolyn keeps him silent.
Barnabas and Julia think about what Quentin has told them. Julia asks what they will do if it is true, if Roger and/or Carolyn have come under the influence of Roxanne, and Barnabas says he does not know. Quentin pressures him about Roxanne, and reminds Barnabas that while he may have hated being a vampire, Roxanne might "view things differently." Julia tells Barnabas that Roxanne is not the same Roxanne he left back in parallel time. "Everyone there was different, Barnabas, "she says. "Think about Stokes' counterpart! Or mine!" Barnabas finally comes to grips and answers "You are both right. If it is true, we may have to destroy Roxanne Drew!"
At Collinwood, Roger is pouring himself a drink when Liz enters and asks him why he changed his mind about sending David away. He evades the question at first, but then tells Liz that he wants to keep his son around a little longer. Liz is touched by this, and remarks how David will have to grow up and "leave the nest" at some point, but Roger counters that he already has a governess in mind.
Liz asks Roger who, and he replies "I was thinking of Professor Anderson's lovely young assistant, Miss Hopkins. David seemed quite taken with her, and I'm sure we could do better for her financially than the college." Liz wonders how qualified Daphne may be in dealing with children and what her background is, questions which Roger dismisses. Liz brings up that Daphne may be growing involved with Quentin, and that this might be awkward, but Roger points out how Victoria Winters had become close to Barnabas without it hurting her job. Liz sits and sadly reflects on Victoria for a moment, and comments on how she misses her. Roger asks Liz not to start an argument over Daphne, and offers to let Liz interview her to make sure.
At the old house, Quentin has told Barnabas and Julia about the strange behavior in Carolyn and Roger. Julia looks for logical explanations, but Barnabas insists that they somehow, subtly, look for fang marks on them both. Quentin says that he will try to quietly watch both Roger and Carolyn and see if their hunch is right.
Carolyn and Sebastian have arrived at Collinwood. Liz and Roger tell them about wanting to interview Daphne, but Liz then remarks on how Professor Anderson may not be willing to let her go so easily. Carolyn suggests inviting Anderson over to dinner to discuss the matter, since she's sure he'll be very reasonable about it. Sebastian looks uncomfortable with this, but a glare from Carolyn keeps him silent.
Barnabas and Julia think about what Quentin has told them. Julia asks what they will do if it is true, if Roger and/or Carolyn have come under the influence of Roxanne, and Barnabas says he does not know. Quentin pressures him about Roxanne, and reminds Barnabas that while he may have hated being a vampire, Roxanne might "view things differently." After a replay of Tuesday's closing and the titles, we are back in the study where Roger sits at his desk with 2 fresh holes in his neck. Roxanne tells him that he is now her servant, and must bend to her will. He says he understands. She tells him that he will needed for "important things," but before she can go into them, there is a knock at the door of the study. They both say nothing, but there is another knock, and it is David outside, calling for his father. Roxanne moves back and out the window, which closes behind her as Roger rises and answers the door with a gruff "What do you want?" David is taken aback.
David asks his father if he's feeling okay, and while hiding one side of his neck, he says he is fine and that he has a lot of work to do, and that it's past David's bedtime. David asks him if what Aunt Elizabeth said was true, that his father wants to send him away to boarding school. Before Roger can answer, David talks about how he may be ready for that now, since Hallie seems to like it, but that he will miss Collinwood and the people there. "It used to be lonely here, but Carolyn has been home more lately, and since Quentin and Barnabas have moved here, I have more people to talk to.." Roger interrupts him and tells him not to worry, since he would rather hire a new governess and not send him away. David is surprised.
The next morning, David is telling Quentin about suddenly not being sent away, and how strange it was for his father to change his mind so quickly, since "my father is always so stubborn once he's made up his mind about something." Quentin is mildly interested in this, and then Carolyn tells David she is very glad he is staying, since so many things happen around Collinwood. Quentin asks her what she means by that, and she can only reply that "things are always happening around here." Quentin asks her if she has any plans for Sebastian, and suddenly Carolyn gets defensive "Why would I have plans for him?" Quentin answers that he only thought she was interested in him, and wondered how serious it was. Carolyn is relieved, and answers that they are just friends. Roger arrives and tells Carolyn that Sebastian is a good friend to have, and Carolyn agrees before they both leave. Quentin thinks this exchange over, and seems to think something is amiss here, since he knew Roger wasn't thrilled with Sebastian at first.
After a shot of the sun setting, we dissolve to a coffin in a darkened room in an abandoned house. The coffin lid begins to open, and Roxanne rises out of it. In the background, we hear some footsteps, and Roxanne hears them too as she starts to close the lid on her coffin. When she closes it, Anderson is standing there, smiling. "Good evening, my dear" he says.
