In a replay of Friday's close, Alan asks Vicky where the foundling home was, and as Vicky starts to give the details, Liz says she's feeling faint. Vicky asks her if she is all right, and Liz says she doesn't know, only that she was feeling lightheaded suddenly. Alan leads Liz to the couch and sits her down, and then asks Vicky to get some cold water from the kitchen. After she leaves, he closes the drawing room doors. He slowly walks to the couch and sits down next to Liz, saying "Are you feeling better now?" Liz says she's not sure. "Would you feel better if I didn't ask Vicky all those questions?" he adds. Liz looks at him and says "I don't know what you mean." Alan looks directly at her and says "I think you do. She is the image of how I remember you. Tell me the truth, Liz. Tell me the truth." Liz shudders.
After the titles, Liz says she "doesn't know what the truth is." Alan says that he doubts that, and Liz asks him why she should have to hide anything from him. "The Collins family name, perhaps? The prestige and honor associated with it?" he sneers. Liz gets angry at him and tells him that if he feels that way about the family, what difference would the truth make anyway? Vicky comes back with a glass of cold water, and Alan tells Vicky that he'd like to be alone with Liz. Liz says "Maybe later. Vicky, please take me up to my room. I wish to lie down for a while." Alan offers to take her, but Liz coldly says "I want Vicky to do it." Upstairs, Harrison is coming out of his room as Vicky and Liz come by. Harrison offers to help, and he and Vicky leave Liz in her room. She looks at Harrison, studies him for a few moments, and begins to tear up. Vicky asks her what is wrong, and Liz says "Nothing...I'll be all right." Harrison asks her if she's sure, and she says she is. Vicky leads Harrison out of the room while Harrison says "Strange...she seemed to look at me and then begin crying. I wonder why?" Vicky says that Liz has been under a lot of strain lately, and the two of them leave. Once they are gone and the door is closed, Liz begins to cry and softly says "Father....."
Back in the drawing room, Harrison and Vicky enter and find Alan. He asks how Liz is, and Vicky remarks how upset she was and asks "you two weren't fighting were you? I don't mean to pry..." Alan says it's okay, and that yes, he and Liz had "a disagreement of sorts." He changes the subject by asking Vicky how she's been feeling since she's been through "a shock of sorts, losing her memory and all." Vicky says she's fine. Alan says "You may want me to run a simple blood test on you, Miss Winters. A shock to the system such as yours can sometimes produce mild forms of anemia, light headedness and so forth. My bag is upstairs, I could get a sample later." Vicky thanks him and says she's feeling fine, but Alan says "It's best to be on the safe side. I'll get my bag," and leaves. Harrison makes a remark about how lucky everyone is to have two doctors around attending to everyone, and then wonders why Liz seemed to be upset with him. Vicky says she has no idea, just that Liz "can be very emotional at times. It's not always easy for her to be the strong matron of Collinwood that she must be." Harrison agrees, saying "I guess everyone one of us in the Collins family feels pressure of sorts to live up to the family name from time to time. Keeping up appearances is such a burden, I think." Vicky agrees, and says she prefers to live "in a way where you don't care what anyone else thinks." Harrison toasts her with his drink, and Vicky starts to smile at Harrison in a way that makes him nervous. "You're a very interesting man, Harrison," she says. "You're very kind and concerned, yet there's something very mysterious about you." He tries to change the subject by answering "I must remind you of Barnabas, then. I think you described him the very same way." Vicky smiles and wonders aloud why Harrison is so "fascinated with Barnabas." Harrison replies that he "finds a man who wants to live in the past an interesting character, I guess." Vicky suddenly looks serious and starts thinking out loud "Barnabas.... in the past. The Barnabas in the past had a horrible experience....." Harrison asks "What?" Vicky continues "Barnabas' ancestor in the past....a woman....an evil woman....she nearly destroyed him....I'm remembering now! I'm remembering!" Harrison asks Vicky what she is talking about, and suddenly Vicky has a revelation and says "The woman! It was Angelique! It was Angelique!" Harrison tries to figure this out.
Harrison asks Vicky how Angelique could have been in the past, and Vicky says "I don't know...but I know it's the same woman! That's why she looked so familiar to me!" Harrison pours her a drink and insists she have it "to calm down." Harrison goes on to say that "Angelique is a sweet, dear, friendly woman. How can you think of her as evil?" Vicky puts the drink aside and says "You don't know her like I do! She came to Collinsport and tried to lure Barnabas' ancestor from his intended bride. When she couldn't get her way, she used witchcraft to cast evil spells....people in the family turned on each other and died! And she made everyone blame me! I was punished for her witchcraft! I'm remembering! I can remember it all!" Harrison grabs her by the shoulder and says "Vicky, you're remembering the past! You're remembering what happened to you when you were trapped in a time long ago. The Angelique you know now cannot be the same women, it's just a coincidence!" Vicky pulls away and insists "No! I'll never forget those eyes.... somehow she found her way here, and she must want to do harm to this Barnabas, our Barnabas, because she couldn't kill his ancestor! Don't you see?" Harrison answers "That makes no sense! You said the Angelique you knew in the past wanted Barnabas' ancestor for her own. Well, our Angelique is married to our Barnabas. If you're somehow correct, she's gotten what she wants and should be no danger! Besides, don't you think its ridiculous to believe in witches?" Vicky laughs and says "You haven't seen the things I have, Harrison. The things I've seen change a person. I used to be afraid of them, but I don't think I'm as afraid anymore. I have to face them, Harrison. I have to face them!" Harrison asks her how she can face "witches who don't exist" and Vicky answers "I can face our Angelique, this one, and find out if I'm right."
Upstairs, Alan comes into Liz' room where Liz is still crying. Alan apologies for upsetting her, but adds "I'm sorry I had to be so blunt, Liz. But the memory of those years is all coming back to me. Do you think I could ever forget what happened between us?" Liz says she hasn't forgotten either, but adds "I can't answer your question, I just can't!" Alan says "Your father paid my way through medical school and that sent me away. I've always wondered if that was his intention when I didn't hear from you month after month. I didn't know if it was you that didn't want me anymore, or your father who didn't want me to be with you. I was going to come back here after I had completed my first year, but I learned you had already married Paul Stoddard, of all people. Why, Liz? I kept asking myself why. And then I see Miss Winters and learn of her mysterious past at a foundling home and no specific reason for her arrival at Collinwood." Liz tells Alan to stop, but he turns her to face him and says "I'm not leaving this time. I'm not leaving you, Liz. No one can send me away from you, not even you. Tell me what happened." Liz hugs Alan and tells him "I don't know if I can relive the memory....and I don't know if I can answer all your questions." Alan says he'll help her try. We zoom in on Liz' face as she remembers, and we dissolve to a close shot a calendar that reads "1945." As we pan down, we see a business letter addressed to "Jamison Collins" which is picked up and opened with a letter opener. As we pull back, we see the aged Jamison Collins (Keith Prentice, with white hair and aging make-up) opening the letter. The telephone rings, and he answers it. "Yes...what was the result? You must tell me, I am her father!" he says sternly. After a moment, he says "I see." and hangs the phone up angrily. He walks to the drawing room doors and calls angrily "Elizabeth! Elizabeth! Come down here at once!" The young Elizabeth (Alexandra Moltke) comes downstairs timidly to face her father. She simply says "Yes, father?" and he says "Shouldn't I be calling myself grandfather, young lady?" Young Liz looks very scared.
