Episode 1348

Aired: Wednesday August 25, 1971

After a replay of Tuesday's close and the titles, Angelique asks Vicky what she could possibly be talking about. Vicky answers "You know very well what I mean. I could never forget those eyes of yours." Angelique turns away and glibly says "I've always been complimented on my eyes. I really don't understand what you are talking about when you say you met me in the past. I've never met you before, and I've only been in Collinsport for the past year or so." Vicky walks further into the old house following Angelique. "Why won't you just admit it? Why won't you admit who you are?" Vicky continues. "I am not who you think I am," Angelique answers. Vicky says she doesn't believe her, but Angelique thoughtfully adds "What I say is truer than you could ever understand." Vicky snaps "You have no idea how much I understand!" (sorry, couldn't resist - CDT) Angelique walks closer to Vicky and says "I think I can understand how you feel. Please...." but before she can go any further, Barnabas enters the room. "Vicky!" he says. "Why have you come to visit us?" Vicky looks at Angelique, and then to Barnabas, wondering what to say.

Barnabas enters the living room and slowly says "I'm sorry, I'm not interrupting you two, am I?" Vicky moves close to Barnabas and tells him "I need to speak to you, alone." Barnabas answers "I don't understand (this is getting too easy! -CDT). What could you possibly tell me that I cannot share with my wife?" Vicky shudders at the phrase "my wife" and then suddenly says "Barnabas, I remember now! I remember everything that happened to me in the past!" Barnabas suddenly looks very worried and asks Vicky to sit down. Vicky refuses, and says "I know who your wife is! It's not in the family histories, Barnabas, because they were too terrified to tell the truth!" Angelique butts in "Vicky seems to think I am someone else, Barnabas. Perhaps she still hasn't truly recovered from her experience." Vicky angrily looks at Angelique and says "I know exactly what I'm saying!" before turning back to Barnabas and continuing "Your ancestor married a woman named Angelique before he went to England. She was an evil woman, Barnabas! She used her spells to destroy people around her and nearly destroyed that Barnabas Collins as well!" Vicky walks towards Angelique, who is getting nervous. Vicky continues "I knew that Barnabas Collins when I visited the past. He was kind and considerate. He risked his own safety to save Peter and me from the gallows....a fate plotted for by Angelique!" She turns back to Barnabas and declares "This is the same woman! I could never forget the witch who tried to destroy me in the past! Barnabas, you have married the same Angelique!" Barnabas and Angelique look at each other, worried.

Barnabas struggles to answer Vicky, and eventually says "Vicky, what you're saying is utterly fantastic! My wife is not a witch. She is certainly not evil. If she resembles someone else or reminds you of someone, I cannot offer any explanation!" Vicky insists that its true, but Barnabas looks at her and says "Vicky, do you trust me? Do you trust my judgment of people?" Vicky says she thinks so, but Angelique approaches her saying "Vicky, please.... let me get you something to drink..." Angelique touches Vicky's shoulder, and Vicky screams in terror before fainting in Barnabas' arms. Barnabas sits her down in a chair as Angelique panics a bit saying "What are we to do? She might discover everything! Barnabas, you said Julia would take care of her memories!" Barnabas answers "Evidently she failed. But I wonder....." Angelique asks him what, and he continues "I wonder how much of a risk it really is. I could always trust Vicky and she could always trust me. What if we did just tell her everything?" Angelique is surprised to hear this idea, but doesn't have time to answer since there's a knock at the door. Barnabas wonders who is could be, but opens the door and sees Harrison. "Good evening," Harrison says. "I followed Miss Winters here, I hope you don't mind." Barnabas scowls "I suppose if I did it would make no difference." Harrison smiles and adds "I didn't mean to interrupt anything. I only wanted to tell Vicky that our cousin Elizabeth is all right after being upset a little." Barnabas answers "Is that all you want with Vicky?" Harrison answers that he doesn't know what Barnabas means. Barnabas sneers "I don't know what plans you have for Miss Winters, but I should warn you that I am.....very fond of her, and will not allow her to be hurt." Harrison says "Plans? I don't follow you." Vicky starts to awaken, and Barnabas asks her if she is all right. "Yes," she says. "You were starting to tell me something, Barnabas. What did you want to tell me?" Angelique and Barnabas look at each other, while Harrison watches.

Barnabas looks at Harrison a moment and tells Vicky that "we can discuss it another time. But be assured that you are perfectly safe." Vicky says she's not worried about herself, but before she can continue, Barnabas says "I will be perfectly fine as well. Please, trust me." Harrison offers to walk Vicky back to Collinwood, but Barnabas says "Allow me. Perhaps I can pay a call on my cousin Elizabeth and see that she is well." Barnabas turns to Angelique and says "I'll be back shortly." Harrison, Vicky and Barnabas leave as Angelique paces for a moment, when suddenly she hears Nicholas say "Isn't being exposed the worst thing that can happen to a witch? Or have you forgotten?" Angelique turns to see Nicholas standing by the fireplace smiling. "How did you get in here?" she angrily says. "You forget how locks mean little to a man of my.....talents, my dear," he answers. "Victoria Winters has returned and knows who you are. How long will it be before she exposes you to the entire Collins family?" Angelique scoffs at this, saying that it's "nonsense." "Besides, " she adds. "I have a husband to protect me. I have love, Nicholas, human love. Something that the fates have denied you. Do you still think of Maggie Evans? Do you dream of her? Do you know what happened to her a year ago?" Nicholas angrily snaps "Do not speak of her to me! You have no right! And it is besides the point, my dear. I am here to discuss you." Angelique says there's nothing to discuss, and Nicholas says "There isn't? I want to know how Harrison Collins brought Victoria Winters back from the past. I must know!" Angelique answers "Why don't you ask him? I have no interest in Victoria Winters." Nicholas grabs Angelique and spins her around to face him. "You've become a poor liar, Angelique. I know you have a great deal of interest in Victoria Winters, just like your loving husband Barnabas does." Angelique didn't want to be reminded of this.
