After a replay of Monday's close to remind everyone that Barnabas is human again & the titles, Julia "ahems" enough to get Barnabas and Angelique's attention. Julia asks Barnabas if he is "okay" as if trying to discern whether he's under some sort of love spell, but Barnabas tells her he is perfectly fine. Sensing her hurt, he tells her to sit down, and first explains how Angelique's powers were taken by Judah/Gerard, and that Angelique saved the day at Quentin's trial by (literally!) facing down Judah/Gerard with Judah's head. Julia can't believe this is the same Angelique who imprisoned her in this time, but Barnabas assures her that without the powers, she is a wonderful woman who has proved herself. Angelique apologizes to Julia and then surprises Barnabas by asking if she can talk to Julia alone. Julia isn't sure about this, but Barnabas tells her that "it would be a good idea, since then you can see what I'm talking about." He leaves the drawing room and shuts the doors.
Angelique asks Julia what life is like in 1971, and Julia tells her that the family is somewhat different in that time. "I can't wait to see it," Angelique says, but Julia answers "You already have, I suppose." Angelique asks Julia how people know her in the future and who her friends are. Julia tells her that she made more enemies than friends. "You assumed the guise of Cassandra and married into the Collins family to get revenge against Barnabas." Angelique starts to get defensive and says "Barnabas told me that after that I helped him fight a leviathan conspiracy. Why would I do that if I still wanted revenge?" Julia says she doesn't know, but then Angelique says "We shouldn't fight. After all, I have no memory of those things, because to me they haven't happened yet. I haven't done any of the evil things you must be thinking of right now, and I swear to you, Julia, I will never do any such things again." Julia condescendingly tells her that she hopes so, but Angelique puts her hand on Julia's shoulder and says "You care for him. You may even love him, and you can't stand to see that he is with another woman." Julia scoffs at this, but Angelique continues "Julia, no one could understand better than me the way you feel right now. Please, don't hate me. I once hated in that way and did horrible things. I know that Barnabas and you are close trusting friends, and I want to gain your friendship as well. Please, give me that chance." Julia smiles through her pain and tells Angelique that she will try. Angelique is happy.
Barnabas and Julia are alone in the drawing room, and Julia is reluctantly admitting to Barnabas that she believes that Angelique has indeed changed. Julia tells him "I only hope you'll be happy, Barnabas." He gives her a heartfelt "thank you" just as Stokes arrives. Stokes tells them that he has gathered enough books and materials to keep him "busy for years" once they get back to 1971, as long as they really have changed the past enough to prevent Collinwood's destruction by Gerard Stiles. Barnabas assures Stokes that they have, "because this is, in fact, the second time I've been back here." Stokes and Julia want to know more about this, so Barnabas tells them how they had originally returned to find everyone perfectly fine back in 1971, but "later events took a turn for the worse. I'd best be brief by simply saying that I was summoned back here to save someone else." Stokes is interested in this, when Angelique comes back with a bag she has packed at the old house. She tells Barnabas she is ready, and then sees Stokes. "Hello," she says to him. "I don't believe I've met you, but you look familiar somehow. My name is Valery..." Stokes, shocked to see her, looks at her and says "Angelique Collins!"
Angelique feigns innocence and says "Angelique? No, my name is Valery Collins. I am Barnabas' wife." Stokes answers "That is quite an interesting statement, Mrs. Collins." Julia tries to pipe in with some alibi, but Barnabas stops her. He looks at Stokes and says "Yes, this is Angelique Collins. The wife of the original Barnabas Collins." Stokes starts to say "But you no longer have to masquerade as his son, Barnabas." "No, I don't, Professor." he says. After a long look at Julia, Barnabas says "Professor, you have helped the Collins family many times over the years, and have helped me in some very unorthodox ways as well. I know I can trust you with complete confidence." "Yes, I believe you can," Stokes answers. "This is indeed Angelique Collins, the wife of the original Barnabas Collins.... my wife, Professor Stokes." Julia, aghast, says "Barnabas!" Stokes says "You are that Barnabas. You've always been that Barnabas.... many things are beginning to make sense to me now..." Barnabas looks at Julia and says "Julia, I believe it is time that we told Professor Stokes.... everything!" Stokes opens his eyes wide, ready for his questions to be answered.
