Episode 1250

Aired Friday April 9, 1971

Liz is having some coffee and reading a newspaper in the morning when Carolyn comes downstairs for breakfast. Liz comments how Carolyn has been in such a good mood lately, and Carolyn says she feels she's finally found some direction with her interest in the occult. Liz answers that it might be more her interest in Sebastian. "He reminds you a lot of Jeb, doesn't he?" asks Liz. Carolyn looks sad for a moment, but answers that while Sebastian may resemble Jeb, heÕs actually a very different person.

Sebastian is looking for Stokes around the college, but is surprised to meet up with Carolyn, who suggests they have lunch together. Sebastian says he needs to see Stokes, but a few bats of the eyes and a smile from Carolyn have him running off.

That evening, Sebastian returns to the college, but Stokes' office is dark and empty. As he is leaving, he runs into Professor Anderson who tells him Stokes has gone out of town for a few days. When Sebastian remarks that he had some questions for him, Anderson offers to help if he can. Anderson invites Sebastian into his office, and with the same strange smile we saw yesterday, closes the door behind them.

In the Collinwood drawing room, Barnabas is having some tea with Liz, while Liz talks about the change in Carolyn. Barnabas is happy to hear she is getting over the loss of Jeb, "while she is so young with so many things ahead of her." Barnabas pours himself another cup, while Liz warns "Try not to have too much tea, Barnabas, it may keep you up all night. You wouldn't want that!" Barnabas smiles and answers "No, I suppose I wouldn't."

Back at the old house, Barnabas is stirring in his sleep, and then the dream-sequence music and lighting effects begin as we fade to.... Barnabas is standing in his living room amongst some dream fog when the front door opens. Barnabas looks and it is Angelique! She beckons him to follow her, with a sad face. He asks her what she wants, but she says nothing. He follows her out of the house. They enter Collinwood, which also has some dream fog floating around. "Why are we here? Why can't you tell me?" he asks. She stops by the doors of the drawing room, which are closed, and turns to face him. She shakes her head "No" while pointing to the doors and then to him. "What is in there, Angelique? What shouldn't I see?" he says. Angelique begins to weep silently, and the doors fly open as she vanishes. Barnabas walks inside and sees Quentin, dressed rather nicely in a jacket and ascot, sitting and staring off into space. Carolyn, Liz and Roger sit surrounding him, and all turn to see Barnabas as he entered. "Quentin! What is wrong? Quentin! Why can't you hear me?" Barnabas says. Carolyn, Liz and Roger all rise together and slowly approach Barnabas, looking sinister. He calls to them, but they do not respond. He begins to back away, slowly, and as they come closer, all three open their mouths to reveal.long fangs... Barnabas screams in terror and wakes up in horror.
