Ah! You've come to the end of the second storyline, which began all the way back with episode 1293. I hope you enjoyed it. I tried to capture the "feel" of the 1968 or 1897 story, having several subplots going on at once.
I designed most of the subplots to address the things a lot of us fans wanted to see happen in the series: Vicky discovering her identity, the return of Sarah, 1897 Quentin getting more to do in the present, the return of Maggie Evans, etc. With Vicky, I tried to "keep it real" by assuming that Alexandra Moltke would have only returned to the show if they had (a) made Victoria Winters somewhat more intelligent (After all, how can anyone go back to 1795, return to 1968, get bit by a vampire, nearly have her life force transferred into a corpse, etc. and only say "I don't understand!" as often as Pansy Faye sings that damn song?) and (b) gave Moltke a chance at playing different and more complex characters (stay tuned!). I realize that Sharon Smythe would be noticably older looking by 1971 if she were to play Sarah again, but what the hell, this IS a text-only webpage, so imagine she's Dark Shadows own Gary Coleman, eternally a little darling!
And then there's the new character of Harrison Collins. Perhaps annoyingly mysterious at first, and perhaps even more annoying if you imagine Keith Prentice in the role after we dealt with him as Morgan, but I liked the idea of switching around the time travel rescue plot that DS often did where we see someone travel into the past to save the family yet again, only this time from the perspective of the people "in the past" as opposed to the perspective of the time travelling Barnabas or Julia. And why not drop hints as to the future (or possible futures) of the family? It also provided opportunity to repeat the theme of Lara Parker being fought over by Prentice and Frid. DS often would repeat character dynamics across storylines featuring the same actors, so it's reasonable to assume this would have continued had they found Prentice some role to play in 1971.
Poor 1897 Quentin... he leaves Collinwood and his beloved Jamison, only to wander aimlessly before returning to Collinsport in 1969, and then he loses his memory! So what did he do with himself all those years? Why didn't he come back to see Jamison at any time? Well, I didn't want to get into all of that, but I liked the idea of Quentin getting a second chance with Jamison somehow...and if it wasn't with David, maybe it could be with Harrison, who could look like Jamison, and would need some sort of "anchor" in the past he travels to, someone he could trust, like Quentin... it all made sense somehow when I thought of it.
Other thoughts? I always thought Julia was at her best when she first shows up at Collinwood in 1967. There's something sinister about her, a darker side that allows her to cover Barnabas' evil actions in her quest for scientific knowledge about him, and eventually her unrequited love for him. Eventually, it was only due to love for Barnabas that she hypnotized and sedated any possible troublemaker, but Grayson Hall played a good schemer, whether it was early "I'll help you kill Dave Woodard" Julia or Magda. The prospect of an evil Julia would be great fun, turning the tables on a "good" Angelique among other things. As far as the gender issues involved with Judah Zachary possessing Julia Hoffman, well maybe it's time he got in touch with his feminine side. It was tempting to have Nicholas become romantically involved here, but then I'd venture down the road of Mad magazine inspired parody, and I might never come back!

Episode 1400
Aired: Friday November 5, 1971
Louis Edmonds's voiceover: "In the year 1971, Harrison Collins, the strange visitor from the future, has accomplished his mission to prevent the destruction of the Collins family. But his planned return to his own time has gone wrong... for he has found himself transported back into the past, and into a strange parallel world unknown to him...."
After a replay of Thursday's close, Harrison ducks behind the curtain as the door to the parallel time room opens. Edward Collins (Louis Edmonds), a stuffy Victorian much like his 1897 counterpart, enters the room along with a new face of sorts - Benjamin Collins (Jonathan Frid). Harrison listens as they begin to speak. "I don't see why we need to come all the way up here to discuss this matter!" Edward booms. Benjamin closes the door and remarks "I don't trust the servants. I'm not sure where their loyalties lie." Edward harumphs and says that "those servants would soon certainly know they'd better be loyal to the right people." Benjamin answers "I'm sure things will be all right. I only wish grandmother Catherine was more mentally sound. It's hard to tell what will happen." Edward walks over to the portrait of Bramwell and says "If only grandfather were still here... she has never been the same since we lost him." Benjamin smiles and says "Actually, it may give us somewhat of an advantage. Quentin was always grandfather's favorite. His long absence from Collinwood has given us a chance." Harrison perks up at the mention of Quentin. Edward sneers at the thought of "our globetrotting brother" and remarks "no doubt he'll bring home another unsuitable bride to insult our family with." Benjamin says "We don't need to discuss that now. I only want to secure a promise from you, Edward. That you will help me gain enough influence over grandmother so that the future of Collinwood will be placed in our hands.... and not in our cousin's. Are you with me?" Edward counters "I am with you if you also place Quentin in the same category as our beloved cousin." Benjamin balks a little and says "You know I don't share your feelings about Quentin, except that I agree about his irresponsibility. Do we have a deal?" Edward thinks a moment and says yes. Benjamin says they'd better be getting back downstairs, and he and Edward leave. Harrison steps out from behind the curtain and we hear him think "Quentin.... there is a Quentin here.... it must be his counterpart from his existence in 1897....like Edward... the other name I heard. There was an Edward was Quentin's brother in my timeline. My timeline! How can I get back to it?" He looks at the ring, where the crystal is still cloudy. "I must get back to my own time!" he says.
Harrison has opened the double doors and is trying the crystal again, but to no avail. "The crystal must have been damaged in the transfer somehow," we hear him think. "But in the other timeline in 1897, it's still sitting in the dusty laboratory downstairs, waiting for me to find it in 2045...if the room would only change by itself so that I could get to that other timeline and sneak down to the lab before anyone in 1897 sees me.....how long must I wait here?" He paces a little and he thinks some more. "Anyone in 1897....I wonder what Quentin was like then....from all the stories he told me growing up, I wonder if I'd really like to meet him then....and that Collins family didn't sound too hospitable as well...." He looks at the portrait of Bramwell and keeps thinking "I wonder what this one is like, in this time. Those two didn't seem too friendly....plotting over their inheritance. Perhaps everyone here is cutthroat...." Suddenly the knob starts to turn again, and Harrison hides behind the curtain again. Beth Chavez (Terry Crawford) enters the room and begins to straighten it up a bit, and then turns to say "They've gone, if you want to come in now, Miss Valery" towards the door. In walks Valery Stokes (Lara Parker), who closes the door behind her. Harrison sees her and can't believe it - she is the very image of the Angelique he left behind. He watches her intensely as she crosses towards Beth. "I know they are plotting. Trying to turn your grandmother against you!" Beth says. Valery answers "Edward perhaps, but not Benjamin. Benjamin and I have always gotten along. And besides, my grandmother Catherine would never do anything to hurt me. How many times has she told me how I remind her of herself?" Beth counters that Valery can't depend on that now since Catherine has become "so erratic in her emotions." Valery gets sad and says she knows. Beth asks "What will happen if Edward gets his way? He'll drive you away from Collinwood, he'll have you cut off without a cent!" Valery says "He could never do that to me, I'm his cousin." Beth answers "That's exactly why he'd do it! He's been scheming to get control over Collinwood ever since your grandfather died. He's trying to turn Catherine against you, then Quentin, then Judith, and finally Benjamin!" Valery spins the globe in the room and thinks "Quentin.... Quentin will be back soon. Most likely with some other girl on his arm.... always the charmer." Harrison smiles a little as he watches Valery and thinks of the Quentin he knows. "Perhaps Quentin could help me," Valery says. Beth answers "I hope so. You've taken care of your grandmother all these years....seeing to her health while Edward only counted the money. You don't deserve to be treated this way." Beth gets her things and leaves, while Valery looks at the portrait of Bramwell. "You have never let this happen, grandfather," Valery says. "But who am I kidding? Edward has always wanted my father and I to leave Collinwood.... where will I go? Where will I go when my grandmother....my only friend...dies?" Valery begins to cry. Harrison, feeling bad for her, starts to take a step towards her.
Before Harrison can take his step, Beth returns to the room and tells Valery that Judith wishes to see her. Valery makes herself stop crying and Beth consoles her. The two of them leave and Harrison steps out from behind the curtain. He takes a deep sigh and begins thinking. "It IS her... the same woman... Angelique's counterpart in this timeline, only years earlier....why? It makes no sense! But she is here....as am I...." Harrison paces a little and thinks some more. "Angelique....wished me to find happiness.....and touched my ring! She put her hand on my hand before I left! Perhaps she sent me here....no, that can't be! That's impossible! How could she know of this time, of these people.... and of her own counterpart....a poor crying girl who is friendless here...." He walks by the mirror and sees himself in it. "Or, might I say, was friendless here....." Suddenly the room changes to normal time - it is dark and all the furniture is gone. Harrison is staring at a blank wall where the mirror was. He looks around, startled, and says out loud "The room! It's changed! I must be in my own world again....only in 1897....." He walks to the double doors and stops before opening them.
Harrison stands before the double doors in the darkened parallel time room, in normal time, thinking. He steps away from the doors suddenly. "This room changes often enough, according to the books....Angelique sent me to that other world for a reason...she wished me to find happiness....she knew. She must have known her counterpart was there....there for me to find, somehow." He looks at his ring, which is still cloudy. "Perhaps I could be more in control, however.... I should get the crystal while I'm in this timeline, and then I can return at will..." He starts back for the double doors, but as he takes a step, the room suddenly switches again, and he's back in the well-lit furnished room of 1897PT. Startled, he looks around and gets his bearings. "No rhyme or reason to the switching..." he thinks. "But I am back. And I have an idea as to why...." He walks to the other door to the room and carefully opens it. After a quick inspection of the hallway, Harrison sneaks out. We cut to the large clock in the Collinwood foyer chiming as we pan out. The foyer is identical to the set up of 1897. Gas lights burn, and Barnabas' portrait is on the wall. In the drawing room, Benjamin is reading a book and having a glass of sherry. He puts the book down and replaces the glass next to the decanter before walking to the foyer. Valery is coming downstairs, and tells him "Grandmother is asleep." Benjamin says "Good. I'm glad to hear the new tonic she is taking is helping her to rest." Valery looks at Benjamin and says "I wished you believed my motivations for helping her are genuine." Benjamin looks at her sternly and says "I'd like to believe it." He turns and starts to head upstairs, but there is a knock at the door. Benjamin comes back downstairs and opens the door. "Yes, can I help you?" he says. Harrison enters, dressed in 1897 clothing. "Hello, my name is Harrison Collins." Benjamin asks "Collins?" Harrison says "Yes. I've been traveling throughout the country, and I discovered my distant relation to the Collins family of Maine. I am a cousin....from New York. I've come to visit for a while." Harrison smiles at Benjamin, who gives him a nervous smile in return. Valery steps forward and says "New York! I've never been to New York....I hear it's quite beautiful." Harrison takes her hand and kisses it, saying "Not as beautiful as some of the sights of Collinwood, I assure you." Valery smiles at Harrison as Benjamin looks at him suspiciously.

Episode 1399

Alexandra Moltke's voiceover: "My name is Victoria Winters. I have returned to Collinwood through the actions of a strange visitor from another time, a visitor who is now preparing to return to his own world, now that he has saved it from destruction. But little does he know that his journey has only begun...."
Harrison is standing by the fountain when Vicky comes outside. He asks her how Maggie is doing, and Vicky says "she's still asleep." Harrison remarks how sorry he is that "the shock of all that has happened" has had some bad effect on her. Vicky agrees, and says that "Julia will have to see to her now." Harrison says that's good, since Julia "seems to be a good person to handle that job." Vicky answers "It's good to have Julia back with us. I'm sure she's thanked you for what you did." Harrison smiles and says she did, "but the most thanks I'll have is when I return home."
After the titles, Vicky asks "Do you know what has happened in your world since you changed events here?" Harrison nods, and tells Vicky that he opened the vortex to his own time to look, "to make sure. Everything looked different, but better. Collinwood was being lived in. I saw David...." and then, he chokes up a bit as he adds "... and I saw my father. Alive." Vicky smiles and says "I'm so happy for you." Harrison says he would have stepped through, but that he wanted to "say my proper goodbyes to everyone" as well as attend Liz's wedding. Vicky says "I don't think I ever thanked you enough for what you did for me...." before Harrison can say anything, Vicky continues "I know you didn't plan to do it, but still.... I owe you my life and my future here. I guess everyone does." Harrison kisses her hand and tells her he's honored. Meanwhile, Julia is attending to Maggie, who is starting to wake up. Julia asks her if she knows where she is, and Maggie answers "Collinwood...in my room...." Julia says "Good. And now tell me... who are you?" Maggie thinks a moment and says "I want to say Maggie...Maggie Evans... but why aren't I sure?" Julia answers "You are Maggie Evans! You must be sure of that!" Maggie looks around for a moment and says "Where is it?" Julia asks what, and Maggie says "My music box! Where is it?" Julia looks at her and sternly says "You have no music box, Maggie. Maggie Evans has no music box!" Maggie thinks about this and looks confused.
Joanna and Lori have finished breakfast and enter the drawing room. Joanna remarks on what "a marvelous old house" Collinwood is, and Lori remarks on how "such a marvelous old house has some marvelous young men living in it." Joanna tells Lori that she "shouldn't get too comfortable" since they are both heading back to Boston later in the day, but Lori snaps "I saw you talking with Quentin. I saw the way he looked at you." Joanna answers "He said I reminded him of someone he knew long ago, that's all." Lori laughs and answers "That old line? And you believe him? My dear sister, he strikes me as a born charmer... and charm me he did!' Joanna says "I don't think he's like that at all!" Lori shushes her as Quentin enters the room. He says good morning to them both and asks them how they enjoyed their night at Collinwood. Lori smiles at him and says "this house is much warmer and comforting than I ever would have thought." Quentin laughs and answers "You're the first person to ever say that about this place. How about you, Joanna? Did you sleep well?" Joanna answers "Yes... but it's really time for us to be going." She grabs Lori's arm and leads her from the room. Quentin wonders why she reacted this way. As they go upstairs, Barnabas arrives. He says hello to Quentin and asks where Harrison is. Quentin says he thinks Harrison was taking "a last look at this century." Barnabas says he came to wish him a goodbye. Quentin smiles and says "Well, it seems you didn't bring along who he really hates to say goodbye to, did you?" Barnabas answers "Angelique will be here, and besides, I don't think he will leave without saying goodbye to her." Quentin muses "It's funny.... how all of us Collins men have been affected by her at one time or another." Barnabas agrees. Vicky and Harrison enter the house, and Vicky wishes Harrison luck before going upstairs. He looks at Barnabas and Quentin and says "I think it's time."
In the laboratory, the planks have been put back where they belong. Harrison places them in a square as Barnabas and Quentin watch. Harrison looks at them and says "That should do it." Barnabas shakes his hand and says "Fare well, Harrison. I hope you do as well in your own time as you've done here." Harrison says "You never know, you may see me here again. I've grown quite fond of this century." Barnabas thinks a moment and says "Seventy four years in the future... what a strange world that would be to all of us." Harrison looks at Quentin and says "It's not so strange to you, at least it wasn't when I left it. I suppose you'll see me again in seventy four years and I'll see you again in just a few moments." Quentin shakes his hand first, but then gives him a bear hug. "I'm.... proud to know you in any century, Harrison." Harrison says he feels the same way about Quentin. Quentin snaps "You'd better go already, I hate long goodbyes like this." Harrison says "I didn't want to leave before I said goodbye to Angelique..." Barnabas says she should be here, and then there are the sounds of footsteps. Angelique runs down the stairs and says she didn't want to miss Harrison before he leaves. "And I didn't want to miss you," he answers. "I came here to save you, really. And to prevent what happened to Quentin. I thought I'd maybe take you with me when I left, but I see that will not be, and should not be. But I will always hold a special place for you." He kisses her hand as Barnabas grumbles. Quentin quietly tells Barnabas "I must have had a lot to do with raising him." Angelique looks at Barnabas a moment, and then takes Harrison's hand wearing the ring. She raises it and places her hand over the ring while saying "May you find your happiness, Harrison Collins." She kisses the hand and then lets it go. He smiles at all of them and raises his hand to his mouth. He says "Open..." and the vortex begins to form. It looks somewhat cloudy, and Harrison looks for shapes to form within it. He sees a window through the fog. "Collinwood..." he says with a smile. He takes one last look at Angelique, Quentin, and Barnabas and then steps into the vortex. As he does, there is a flash of light and the sound of a crash as the vortex collapses. Quentin and Barnabas look nervous "What just happened?" Angelique smiles silently. We cut to Harrison opening his eyes. As we pull back, he is laying on the floor of a room at Collinwood - we see the same window. As we continue pulling back, we see a large hanging chandelier and some furniture that looks Victorian. Harrison stands up and tries to get his bearings. He looks at his ring, and the jewel is cloudy. He looks up to see a large portrait of what looks like Barnabas over the fireplace, but it's not the Barnabas portrait we know - the hair is different and the clothing is nineteenth century. We hear Harrison think "What happened.... I'm at Collinwood, but not in the laboratory.... why am I here, in this room?" He walks over to a desk and he looks over some papers until he finds a desk calendar. His eyes open wide as he reads the date... "November 1897." He looks around the room in shock, and then notices the name at the bottom of the portrait... "Bramwell Collins, 1851."
Harrison is looking around the room and pacing, and we hear him think "1897... instead of going forward in time 74 years, I've gone 74 years backwards. But there's something else about this room that's familiar... what is it? What is it?" He opens the double doors, and outside is a dark hallway. As he tries to enter it, he is blocked by an invisible force. He tries to push his way through, but he cannot. He takes a step back and suddenly the outside changes to a lit hallway, and Harrison can take a step outside. He rushes back into the room and closes the double doors. "The parallel... not only have I gone backwards in time, but I'm in the parallel...the room that I saw burned in 1971 that was mentioned in David's books ....I must get out of here." He raises his ring to his mouth and says "Switch," but nothing happens. He tries again, and nothing happens. He looks at the cloudiness of the jewel and we hear him think "The crystal! The crystal has been damaged somehow! I....I...may be trapped here!" As he thinks about this situation, we hear the voices of people approaching from the far door. Harrison sees the doorknob turning and freezes in his tracks.

I have returned to Collinwood through the actions of a strange visitor from another time, a visitor who is now preparing to return to his own world, now that he has saved it from destruction. But little does he know that his journey has only begun...."
Harrison is standing by the fountain when Vicky comes outside. He asks her how Maggie is doing, and Vicky says "she's still asleep." Harrison remarks how sorry he is that "the shock of all that has happened" has had some bad effect on her. Vicky agrees, and says that "Julia will have to see to her now." Harrison says that's good, since Julia "seems to be a good person to handle that job." Vicky answers "It's good to have Julia back with us. I'm sure she's thanked you for what you did." Harrison smiles and says she did, "but the most thanks I'll have is when I return home."
After the titles, Vicky asks "Do you know what has happened in your world since you changed events here?" Harrison nods, and tells Vicky that he opened the vortex to his own time to look, "to make sure. Everything looked different, but better. Collinwood was being lived in. I saw David...." and then, he chokes up a bit as he adds "... and I saw my father. Alive." Vicky smiles and says "I'm so happy for you." Harrison says he would have stepped through, but that he wanted to "say my proper goodbyes to everyone" as well as attend Liz's wedding. Vicky says "I don't think I ever thanked you enough for what you did for me...." before Harrison can say anything, Vicky continues "I know you didn't plan to do it, but still.... I owe you my life and my future here. I guess everyone does." Harrison kisses her hand and tells her he's honored. Meanwhile, Julia is attending to Maggie, who is starting to wake up. Julia asks her if she knows where she is, and Maggie answers "Collinwood...in my room...." Julia says "Good. And now tell me... who are you?" Maggie thinks a moment and says "I want to say Maggie...Maggie Evans... but why aren't I sure?" Julia answers "You are Maggie Evans! You must be sure of that!" Maggie looks around for a moment and says "Where is it?" Julia asks what, and Maggie says "My music box! Where is it?" Julia looks at her and sternly says "You have no music box, Maggie. Maggie Evans has no music box!" Maggie thinks about this and looks confused.
Joanna and Lori have finished breakfast and enter the drawing room. Joanna remarks on what "a marvelous old house" Collinwood is, and Lori remarks on how "such a marvelous old house has some marvelous young men living in it." Joanna tells Lori that she "shouldn't get too comfortable" since they are both heading back to Boston later in the day, but Lori snaps "I saw you talking with Quentin. I saw the way he looked at you." Joanna answers "He said I reminded him of someone he knew long ago, that's all." Lori laughs and answers "That old line? And you believe him? My dear sister, he strikes me as a born charmer... and charm me he did!' Joanna says "I don't think he's like that at all!" Lori shushes her as Quentin enters the room. He says good morning to them both and asks them how they enjoyed their night at Collinwood. Lori smiles at him and says "this house is much warmer and comforting than I ever would have thought." Quentin laughs and answers "You're the first person to ever say that about this place. How about you, Joanna? Did you sleep well?" Joanna answers "Yes... but it's really time for us to be going." She grabs Lori's arm and leads her from the room. Quentin wonders why she reacted this way. As they go upstairs, Barnabas arrives. He says hello to Quentin and asks where Harrison is. Quentin says he thinks Harrison was taking "a last look at this century." Barnabas says he came to wish him a goodbye. Quentin smiles and says "Well, it seems you didn't bring along who he really hates to say goodbye to, did you?" Barnabas answers "Angelique will be here, and besides, I don't think he will leave without saying goodbye to her." Quentin muses "It's funny.... how all of us Collins men have been affected by her at one time or another." Barnabas agrees. Vicky and Harrison enter the house, and Vicky wishes Harrison luck before going upstairs. He looks at Barnabas and Quentin and says "I think it's time."
In the laboratory, the planks have been put back where they belong. Harrison places them in a square as Barnabas and Quentin watch. Harrison looks at them and says "That should do it." Barnabas shakes his hand and says "Fare well, Harrison. I hope you do as well in your own time as you've done here." Harrison says "You never know, you may see me here again. I've grown quite fond of this century." Barnabas thinks a moment and says "Seventy four years in the future... what a strange world that would be to all of us." Harrison looks at Quentin and says "It's not so strange to you, at least it wasn't when I left it. I suppose you'll see me again in seventy four years and I'll see you again in just a few moments." Quentin shakes his hand first, but then gives him a bear hug. "I'm.... proud to know you in any century, Harrison." Harrison says he feels the same way about Quentin. Quentin snaps "You'd better go already, I hate long goodbyes like this." Harrison says "I didn't want to leave before I said goodbye to Angelique..." Barnabas says she should be here, and then there are the sounds of footsteps. Angelique runs down the stairs and says she didn't want to miss Harrison before he leaves. "And I didn't want to miss you," he answers. "I came here to save you, really. And to prevent what happened to Quentin. I thought I'd maybe take you with me when I left, but I see that will not be, and should not be. But I will always hold a special place for you." He kisses her hand as Barnabas grumbles. Quentin quietly tells Barnabas "I must have had a lot to do with raising him." Angelique looks at Barnabas a moment, and then takes Harrison's hand wearing the ring. She raises it and places her hand over the ring while saying "May you find your happiness, Harrison Collins." She kisses the hand and then lets it go. He smiles at all of them and raises his hand to his mouth. He says "Open..." and the vortex begins to form. It looks somewhat cloudy, and Harrison looks for shapes to form within it. He sees a window through the fog. "Collinwood..." he says with a smile. He takes one last look at Angelique, Quentin, and Barnabas and then steps into the vortex. As he does, there is a flash of light and the sound of a crash as the vortex collapses. Quentin and Barnabas look nervous "What just happened?" Angelique smiles silently. We cut to Harrison opening his eyes. As we pull back, he is laying on the floor of a room at Collinwood - we see the same window. As we continue pulling back, we see a large hanging chandelier and some furniture that looks Victorian. Harrison stands up and tries to get his bearings. He looks at his ring, and the jewel is cloudy. Joan Bennet's voiceover: "A new day has dawned over Collinwood, for a rare and happy occasion. The mistress of the great house will have her wedding day, to a long lost love. For Harrison Collins, the mysterious visitor from another time, this wedding marks the end of his visit to the year 1971...."
Harrison is straightening his tie in the mirror, grumbling about "these twentieth century clothes" when Angelique enters the room, dressed for the wedding as well. Harrison tells her she looks beautiful and kisses her hand. "I suppose your behavior towards me will never change," she says. He smiles and says "Not as long as I'm still here.... that's why it will be best if I return to my own time. But I'm sure you'll agree that we could all use a nice party." Angelique agrees, and then starts to admire herself in the mirror. Harrison notices this, and jokes "Well, I won't interrupt you," before he steps out. Angelique notices him leave, but then looks into the mirror again. Suddenly, her reflection begins to age...her hair grays, her skin wrinkles.... Angelique grabs her face in horror and starts to scream...
After the titles, the young Angelique is grabbing her face in front of the mirror and screaming as Vicky enters. Vicky grabs her and tells her to get a hold of herself. Her reflection is normal again. Angelique tells Vicky "I had a vision...a horrible vision...I was old and ugly....oh, Vicky! It was horrible!" Vicky looks at the mirror and asks "Could it be some sort of spell?" Angelique sits on the bed and says "Not exactly...I was thinking about aging as I looked in the mirror. I'm mortal now, and I will age. I don't relish the prospect, I'm sure as a woman you can understand." Vicky answers that aging is a part of life. Angelique says she's just not used to it, and thinks her concentrations went astray. "After all, I still have some of the powers left to me by Nicholas." Vicky tells Angelique "And you're thinking of using those powers to stay young? Angelique, no! The more you use them, the more you'll fall back under the influence of those powers that made Nicholas so evil!" Angelique looks in the mirror and says "Vicky, I'm sure I can control those powers. I have had a lot of experience." Vicky stands behind her in the mirror and says "What about Barnabas? How will he feel about it all?" Angelique turns to Vicky and says "Barnabas must not know." Vicky says "You have to be honest with him." Angelique makes a deep sigh and says "Yes... you're right. Anyhow, we should go downstairs and get ready. Barnabas is giving away the bride!" Vicky asks "Barnabas? I would have thought Roger would do it." Angelique answers "Roger is Alan's best man." Meanwhile downstairs, there is a knock at the door. Quentin, dressed for the wedding, answers the door and meets Lori Slater (Virginia Vestoff) who enters. "Hello, I'm Quentin Collins," he says charmingly. "I'm Lori Slater, Alan's daughter. My sister Joanna is parking the car." Quentin says he's pleased to meet her, and that everyone is in the drawing room. "Rather quaint for such a wealthy family to have a wedding at home," she remarks. As she looks around, she says "And quite a home it is....I had heard about the magnificence of Collinwood..." Quentin says "It wears off after a while." She laughs a little and heads into the drawing room. As Quentin turns towards the door again, he stops in his tracks when he sees Joanna Slater (Terry Crawford) is a dead-ringer for Beth Chavez. "Hello..." he says slowly. "Hello," she says. "I'm Joanna Slater, Alan's daughter. I'm sure my sister introduced me." Quentin takes her hand and kisses it. "Yes, she did... but she didn't tell me....well, how could she tell me...." Curious, Joanna asks Quentin "What is it?" Quentin says "Nothing. I'm Quentin Collins. If you need anything, just ask me." "Very gallant," she says. Quentin says "I can be, I suppose. It's just that you remind me of someone I knew a long time ago." She smiles curiously.
In the drawing room, people are assembling for the wedding. Vicky, Carolyn, Julia & Angelique are bridesmaids. Quentin and Harrison are all dressed and waiting with Joanna and Lori, making small talk. Quentin asks Julia "Have you seen Maggie? I thought she was upstairs." Julia says no. Quentin tells Julia that Maggie "has been acting strangely since she returned from Nicholas' house." Julia answers "I'll see to her once the wedding is over." The minister enters the room and tells everyone that the wedding will start soon. A piano player starts to play the wedding march as Roger and Alan get into place. "I never thought I'd see this day," Roger says to Alan. "Why?" Alan asks. "I never knew Liz could be this happy," Roger answers. Alan smiles at him. Everyone smiles as flower girl Sarah walks in followed by ringbearer David. As the music continues, everyone looks outside the drawing room and sees Barnabas leading Liz down the stairs. They pause for a moment in the foyer and smile at each other and then continue on into the drawing room. Liz smiles at everyone coming in, with the longest looks towards Vicky and Carolyn. Barnabas shakes Alan's and Roger's hands and sits beside Angelique. The minister begins the ceremony. After some brief words about what they have gathered for, the minister cuts to the chase by asking Alan if he will take Elizabeth Collins Stoddard as his wedded wife. He says "I do." Liz is asked if she will take Alan Slater as her husband, and she says "I do." David hands Alan the ring, which he places on Liz's finger. "I now pronounce you man and wife," the minister says. Liz and Alan kiss as everyone cheers. Quentin eyes Joanna and Lori notices. Vicky, and then Carolyn hug Liz, followed by Julia and Angelique. As congratulations and chatting begins, Roger begins to circulate glasses of champagne. Roger raises a toast to Liz and Alan, wishing them "all the future happiness in the world" and welcomes "Alan, and his two daughters, to our family." Barnabas and Quentin raise a glass, and toast "to Liz and Alan's happiness, as well as the happiness of the Collins family, who welcomed both of us distant cousins with open arms." After more drinking, Harrison raises a glass and says "I would also like to toast the bride and groom, and also the Collins family. All together, all happy, and for all the days ahead." There are more cheers. Suddenly, Maggie appears standing in the doorway to the drawing room - wearing Josette's wedding gown! Carolyn sees her and is shocked - she runs to her and says "Maggie! Are you all right?" Vicky also goes to Maggie and asks if she is all right as Barnabas and Angelique look at each other scared. Sarah runs up to Maggie and says "Josette! You look so beautiful! Are you getting married too?" Maggie opens the music box and it begins to play.
Julia moves to the forefront and leads Maggie away, explaining that "she's been through quite a shock lately...I'll take her upstairs and get her a sedative." Sarah looks at Barnabas and says "What's wrong with Josette?' Barnabas, a little upset, says "Sarah, that is not Josette. That is Maggie. Maggie Evans. You must remember that!" Sarah looks confused. Vicky looks concerned. Alan says "That poor girl... what happened to her?" Quentin answers "She wandered out one night and seems to have had a relapse of her memory loss. I'm sure Julia can handle it, Maggie has been her patient before." Lori remarks to Joanna "This place is getting more interesting by the minute." Joanna shushes her and says "Please... we're guests." Lori answers "Maybe. I think I could get kinda used to this place...." We pan to the clock and dissolve to several hours passed. Alan and Liz are getting ready to leave when Carolyn calls "Mother! You have to throw the bouquet before you go!" Alan says "It's tradition." Liz says "Will taking me on a honeymoon trip throughout Europe also be a tradition?" Alan shrugs and says "Why not?" Liz kisses him, and then tosses the bouquet back into the drawing room. Carolyn reaches for it, but it bounces off her hands, and then off Vicky's...and Julia catches it by reflex! Carolyn looks at Julia and says "Julia! You caught the bouquet! And you weren't even trying!" Vicky smiles and says "Julia, that means you'll be the next one to get married." Julia smiles, and says "Somehow, I don't think that particular superstition will come true this time," and she hands the bouquet to Vicky. Joanna says "You never know, Dr. Hoffman, you never know." Julia thinks a moment about this, looking at Barnabas and Angelique.
Liz and Alan take their bags and leave, saying goodbye to everyone. Roger wishes them well, and then goes back into the drawing room with Quentin and Harrison. "Well, I must say that wedding was just the thing we all needed," Roger says. Quentin raises his glass and says "I'll drink to that." Harrison clinks his glass with Quentin and says "You'll drink to anything, Quentin." Quentin laughs a little and says "I'll drink to Joanna Slater certainly..." Roger says "I think everyone noticed the attentions you were paying her, Quentin." Quentin pours himself another drink and says "Good! I'd hate to keep secrets from anyone here!" Harrison goes to Roger and says "Roger, I'll probably be moving on tomorrow after you've gone into town. I wanted to thank you for all your hospitality before I left." Roger says "Leaving so soon? We will miss you around here." Harrison says "I'll miss all of you as well. But I think my time here as come to an end." Roger answers "Well, I certainly hope you'll come back and visit. You know, this traveling bug of yours is so overrated. You should stop wandering the world and settle down, in once place. Put down some roots of your own." Harrison answers "I think I may do just that, Roger. Thanks." Roger bids both Quentin and Harrison goodnight, and leaves the room. Harrison looks at Quentin and says "I also noticed how you focused on Joanna Slater. She was very attractive, but is there any other reason?" Quentin looks at Harrison and says "Did I ever tell you about someone I knew named Beth?" Harrison thinks a moment and says "She... reminds you of Beth?" Quentin nods. Harrison thinks a moment and says "It seems the changes I made in the passing of time have already begun." Quentin wonders what he means.

Carolyn looks at Julia and says "Julia! You caught the bouquet! And you weren't even trying!" Vicky smiles and says "Julia, that means you'll be the next one to get married." Julia smiles, and says "Somehow, I don't think that particular superstition will come true this time," and she hands the bouquet to Vicky. Joanna says "You never know, Dr. Hoffman, you never know." Julia thinks a moment about this, looking at Barnabas and Angelique.
Liz and Alan take their bags and leave, saying goodbye to everyone. Roger wishes them well, and then goes back into the drawing room with Quentin and Harrison. "Well, I must say that wedding was just the thing we all needed," Roger says. Quentin raises his glass and says "I'll drink to that." Harrison clinks his glass with Quentin and says "You'll drink to anything, Quentin." Quentin laughs a little and says "I'll drink to Joanna Slater certainly..." Roger says "I think everyone noticed the attentions you were paying her, Quentin." Quentin pours himself another drink and says "Good! I'd hate to keep secrets from anyone here!" Harrison goes to Roger and says "Roger, I'll probably be moving on tomorrow after you've gone into town. I wanted to thank you for all your hospitality before I left." Roger says "Leaving so soon? We will miss you around here." Harrison says "I'll miss all of you as well. But I think my time here as come to an end." Roger answers "Well, I certainly hope you'll come back and visit. You know, this traveling bug of yours is so overrated. You should stop wandering the world and settle down, in once place. Put down some roots of your own." Harrison answers "I think I may do just that, Roger. Thanks." Roger bids both Quentin and Harrison goodnight, and leaves the room. Harrison looks at Quentin and says "I also noticed how you focused on Joanna Slater. She was very attractive, but is there any other reason?" Quentin looks at Harrison and says "Did I ever tell you about someone I knew named Beth?" Harrison thinks a moment and says "She... reminds you of Beth?" Quentin nods. Harrison thinks a moment and says "It seems the changes I made in the passing of time have already begun." Quentin wonders what he means.

Quentin enters Nicholas house and calls for Maggie. He gets no answer, but then is surprised to find her sitting in Nicholas' living room. She is holding the music box, but Quentin only asks her why she didn't hear him. She says she must have been asleep. "It's all over now, Maggie. Nicholas is gone," he says. "Gone? Where did he go?" she asks. "He had to leave suddenly...." Quentin says. "I don't think he'll be back. I came to make sure you were all right and take you back to Collinwood." She looks thoughtfully at the music box and says "Collinwood.... yes, I should return there." Quentin wonders why she's acting strange.
After the titles, it's morning at Collinwood. The front door opens, and Roger enters, carrying some suitcases. He looks around for anyone for a moment, and following behind him is David, back from school. "Well, how does it feel to be home again?" Roger says. David says it feels fine, though he's also feeling hungry. "Well, there are a lot of people here who want to see you again," Roger says as Carolyn comes downstairs. She hugs David and asks him how school was. David said he liked the school a lot, though he's not sure if he wants to go back just yet. David goes into the drawing room with Carolyn and finds Liz and Alan inside. He runs to give Liz a hug, and then he shakes hands with Alan. "I'm glad you waited to have the wedding until I could get back here," David says. Alan tells David they couldn't have it without him. Liz tells David that there's someone else who has been waiting to see him. David turns to see Vicky standing in the doorway. "Vicky!" he yells, and runs to her. "They told me you came back!" She hugs David and says "They told you everything else too, didn't they?" David nods and says he always thought of her as a member of the family anyway. David asks where Quentin is, and Liz tells him that she doesn't know. Quentin comes in the front door with Maggie. Quentin asks her if she wants any help upstairs, but she says no as she looks around the foyer with a smile. Liz sees them and calls to them, but David runs past Vicky to Maggie and Quentin and greets them. Maggie seems aloof, and once she says hello to David, tells everyone she's very tired and starts to walk upstairs, playing the music box. David asks Quentin if anything is wrong with Maggie. Quentin says he doesn't know, but Vicky recognizes the melody from the music box.
David comes out of the door beneath the stairs with Quentin and Vicky and tells them "believe it or not, I really missed Mrs. Johnson's cooking up at school." Quentin laughs a little, and David asks Quentin "So, besides Vicky and Maggie coming back, did anything else happen while I was gone?" Quentin and Vicky look at each other a moment before Quentin says "Well, there was something else you should know about...." David wonders what, but Vicky tells him "You should talk to Barnabas. I think he should be the one to tell you. Someone else you know is back at Collinwood as well." David asks who, but Vicky tells David "I'd rather Barnabas told you. It... really is part of your gentleman's agreement." David thinks a moment before Quentin gives him a look that tells him that it's okay that Vicky knows the truth as well. We pan to Barnabas' portrait on the wall as we dissolve to Barnabas sitting at the Blue Whale. Harrison gets some drinks from the bar and brings them over to the table. "Well, I must say that if I hadn't originally seen your ghost in my time, I'd have thought I might be your reincarnation!" Harrison says. "Your story of traveling into the past to save Vicky from the gallows only to lose her to Peter Bradford makes me think we have similar destinies." Barnabas tells Harrison "I thought you should know, since after all, if we do have similar destinies, you should find someone else as I did. You should never give up hope" Harrison swirls his drink and says "Well, we're both definitely incurable romantics. I suppose it is a bit different for me. I only had a silent spirit to fall in love with. You knew a live woman before she faded into another time." Barnabas remarks "Perhaps when you return to your own time, things will be different for you. You won't have to fall in love with ghosts anymore." Harrison smiles and says "A part of me doesn't want to go...I'm so charmed by this time. Everything is so much simpler, quieter. I'm sure I could get used to some of the primitive amenities here." Barnabas answers "We really are alike... more in love with the past than the present." Harrison says "But I really must leave. I accomplished what I came here to do. I only want to see David before I go." Barnabas stands and says "Roger must have brought him home from school by now. Shall we go?" Harrison stands and says "Yes. It's time to go." Harrison takes a look around the Blue Whale before he and Barnabas leave.
Harrison and Barnabas arrive at Collinwood, and as they enter, David is coming down the stairs. "Barnabas!" David calls out. Barnabas says hello and asks him how school was. David says it was fine, and then says hello to Harrison. "Are you still visiting here, cousin Harrison?" Harrison says yes, but that he will be leaving soon. "After the wedding?" David says. Harrison looks at Barnabas a moment, and then says "Yes, right after, I think." David smiles and says "I bet you'll miss Collinwood once you're gone. I didn't think I would, but I really did." Harrison smiles and says "Did you? What did you miss about it?" David says "Well, I don't know about the house itself. I just missed everyone here. It feels really good to be back and see everyone again. I don't think I could be apart from them for very long." Harrison smiles and says "You'll always be with them now, David." Harrison excuses himself and starts to go upstairs. He takes a look at David and smiles before going into the hallway. David tells Barnabas "Vicky said I need to talk to you about something." Barnabas asks what, and David says "She said you'd tell me. Something about someone else coming back here to live." Barnabas knows what he means. Meanwhile upstairs, Harrison walks through the hallway and suddenly hears the music box playing. He follows the sound the Maggie's room, and finds her sitting inside listening to it. "Miss Evans?" he asks. "Are you all right? Quentin said you were feeling tired earlier." Maggie looks at him and says "I am fine...I am home now." Harrison thinks she's acting strange, but leaves the room as she goes on playing the music box. "I am home now....and I know who I am," she says with a smile.
Barnabas and David enter the old house. Barnabas tells David "Professor Stokes researched some ceremonies in the black arts. I had to try, David. I couldn't let her go on wandering..." He and David go upstairs. In Sarah's room, she is sleeping as Barnabas and David enter. David sees her and can't believe it. "Sarah! It is really her! She's not a ghost anymore!" Barnabas smiles and says "No, she is a child again." David looks at Barnabas and asks "But what if she remembers? She might give away who you are." Barnabas says "That's impossible. She had no memory of anything when she became alive again. As far as she knows, I am her uncle from England. That's all she needs to know." David nods, and then walks to Sarah. "Sarah?" he says softly. "Sarah, can you wake up?" Sarah starts to wake up, and then turns to see David. "Hello, Sarah," he says. "David!" she says. "You're back!" David says "Yes, Sarah. I'm back." Sarah then sees Barnabas standing near the door. "You came here with Barnabas? You shouldn't have done that, David!" she says. Barnabas says "Sarah, it's all right." Sarah says "But I didn't want David to know the secret!" David says "Sarah, it's okay. Barnabas and I are friends." Sarah says "Really?" Barnabas says yes, and tells Sarah she should resume her nap. David and Barnabas leave the room, and David says "She still knows all the same things she did before. That's not what you said." Barnabas says "I know.... I think she may be gaining back her memory." David asks "What will that mean?" Barnabas looks at David worried and says "I don't know."

Lara Parker's voiceover: "A dark night at Collinwood, where the enemies of the Collins family have seen their evil plans of destruction come to pass... Julia Hoffman, possessed by the warlock Judah Zachary, has lured all those who live at the great house to what is intended to be their doom, in an eternal vortex of burning hellfire. As for Barnabas Collins and his wife Angelique, they will be forced to watch the destruction of those they love...."
In a repeat of Friday's close, Barnabas is holding the gun on Julia. In the time that Barnabas says "Julia....forgive me..." Nicholas waves his hand and the gun flies out of Barnabas' grip and across the room. "Compassion is once again your downfall," says Julia, and as she waves her hand, the drawing room doors slam shut. "Now!" Julia says. Nicholas takes the ring out from beneath his shirt and places his hand over the crystal. "Open...." he says. "Open the eternal torment of the land of darkness....." Barnabas and Angelique see the planks, and then the vortex begins to form within it. As it comes into focus, we see that it is focused on a world of eternal hellfire, and we hear the screams of the souls being tormented. Julia raises her hand and suddenly Sarah stands. "Who is moving me? I can't stop! Uncle Barnabas! Make it stop!" she yells. "Sarah!" Barnabas yells back. Julia laughs as she moves her hand and Sarah helplessly begins to walk towards the burning hellfire in the vortex. "I can't stop moving towards it! Help me, Uncle Barnabas! Help me!" Julia laughs as Barnabas screams "Sarah!" and she moves closer and closer to the hellfire....
After the titles, Sarah starts to scream as she approaches the hellfire. Julia laughs as Barnabas vows "I'll destroy you, Blair!" Nicholas starts laughing, but stops when the drawing room doors burst open - Quentin and Harrison enter the room and see what's happening - and Nicholas is startled to see Quentin carrying Judah's head in its glass case! "Put that down, Quentin! You don't know what you have!" Nicholas says. "I think I know exactly what I found in your house by the sea, Blair! This thing opened its eyes and looked at me! It's taken possession of Julia Hoffman and that ends now!" Julia lunges at Quentin from behind, but he knocks her aside. Sarah screams and falls. Barnabas yells "Sarah!" but Harrison gets to Sarah and says "She's only fainted!" before yelling "Quentin! The vortex! The hellfire!" Quentin sees Nicholas coming towards him, and takes Judah's head out of the case. Nicholas yells "Stop!" but before he can do anything, Quentin throws Judah's head into the vortex of hellfire. Julia suddenly groans and falls against the couch, and we see the head trapped in the flames with its eyes wide open in shock. Nicholas yells "No!" as we see the face of Judah Zachary come out of Julia's body and drift towards the head in the burning vortex. "Oh my God..." Quentin says as the image of Judah finally meets the head - and when they meet, the head suddenly starts to scream in horrible agony. Nicholas yells "Judah! No!" as the head burns and screams. Suddenly, it's a burning skull with bloodshot eyeballs, screeching horribly as the hellfire consumes it. Nicholas looks at Quentin furiously and waves his hand, saying "You will pay for that, Quentin.... you will pay for that with everything you hold dear..." Quentin grabs his throat and begins to choke, but then Harrison has grabbed the fencing foil from the wall and slashes Nicholas' hand with it. Nicholas turns to face Harrison and snaps "You... you annoying insect! You came here to save these pitiful people, but it will be you who is destroyed!" Nicholas turns towards Harrison and starts to wave his hand, but suddenly Nicholas starts to cough and choke only to see Angelique waving her hand at him. "You gave me power, Nicholas.... and now you will see what I can do with it," she says. Barnabas goes to Julia and tries to revive her. "Julia! Julia! Speak to me!" he says. Quentin says "Blair can't fight us all at once! That's why he needed that thing! Keep distracting him!" Nicholas snarls "I have enough power for all of you! Even without Judah!" He stares Angelique down, who cannot fight back. She runs to Barnabas and says that Nicholas is too powerful. Nicholas sneers and again aims at Quentin, saying "I'll begin with aging you until you rot where you stand!" Quentin seems to face Nicholas alone.
Nicholas starts to wave his hands at Quentin, but suddenly the fencing foil is at his throat. He turns to face Harrison, laughing "Do you think you can kill me with such a mundane weapon? I am not human!" Harrison smiles, says "I am aware you are not human" and suddenly lunges the foil forward. We see the neck chain Nicholas is wearing snap. Nicholas yells "The ring!" just as Harrison makes another quick move with the foil - he has caught the ring on it, and as he raises the foil upwards, the ring slides to him! "I believe this is mine," he says, grabbing the ring and dropping the foil to the floor. "Quentin! Get out of the way!" Harrison yells as Nicholas starts towards him. "Give me that ring!" Nicholas thunders, but Harrison stands still, places his hand over the ring and says "Widen....open...widen...." Nicholas looks confused at first, but then turns to see the vortex is opening towards him! He tries to step out of the way, but Harrison moves with him, and Nicholas falls backwards with a scream. Quentin and Barnabas watch as Nicholas is surrounded by the burning hellfire. He, like Judah, screams in agony, and then his own head becomes a burning skull with bloodshot eyeballs. Quentin and Barnabas are disgusted, but Angelique smiles as she watches. Harrison brings the ring to his lips and says "Close..." and the vortex collapses upon itself taking Nicholas with it, his screeching agony fading away like dying echoes. He and Judah are gone. Harrison plops down into a chair with a heavy sigh. Quentin says "Is he gone? Are they really gone?" Harrison nods, and Angelique says "Yes... consumed by the same eternal hellfire they meant for us. My former master is not very forgiving." Quentin answers "I can't think of a better end for those two." Barnabas tries to revive Julia, and Quentin asks how Julia is. "I don't know!" Barnabas says. "I can't seem to wake her up!" Quentin and Barnabas look at each other.
Barnabas continues to try to revive Julia, who suddenly opens her eyes. She looks around and starts to wake up. "Barnabas...." she begins to say. "Julia...I am here! I am here! Please, tell me you're all right!" he says. She begins to cry hysterically, saying "I could see everything! I could see everything he made me do, and I couldn't stop myself! I couldn't stop myself! Forgive me, Barnabas! Forgive me!" Barnabas holds her close and tells her "I forgive you, Julia. I know you would never harm any of us! I know you love us too much." Angelique begins to frown watching Barnabas and Julia. Meanwhile, Liz, Carolyn, Alan and Vicky all begin to wake up, and wonder why they are in the drawing room. Barnabas tells Quentin and Angelique to see to them. Angelique says she'd rather stay with Barnabas. Liz and Alan don't know why they are downstairs, and only remember going to bed. Carolyn asks Vicky why they are all in the drawing room. Vicky tells Carolyn she doesn't remember, but then looks at Barnabas and Angelique and realizes what may have happened. Noticing Angelique's glares at the sobbing Julia, she tells Angelique to wait behind with Sarah and that she will help Alan, Liz and Carolyn upstairs. Harrison lifts Sarah and places her on the couch. Quentin remarks how good it is that no one seems to have a memory of what just happened. "Sarah was conscious throughout much of it," Barnabas frets. "I hope she doesn't remember. It would be too horrible for a child to remember what just happened." Quentin answers "It's pretty bad for anyone to remember what just happened." As Barnabas looks at Sarah, we dissolve to Maggie, waking up in Nicholas' house. The armoire has been smashed open. Maggie looks around and then says "What... what am I doing here?"
Julia is drinking some tea and reassures Barnabas that she is fine now. Angelique tugs at Barnabas and tells him that they will need to take Sarah home. "Julia can handle herself," she adds jealously. Barnabas starts to pick Sarah up off the couch, and she awakens a little. "Barnabas?" she says. "Yes, Sarah...it's me. Everything is going to be all right now," he says. "Why did they want to hurt me?" she asks. Barnabas thinks a moment and says "You were only having a bad dream. You must forget about it. I am here now, and I promise you, no one will ever try to harm you, ever." Angelique tells her "Your uncle and I will take you home to sleep now." Sarah looks at Angelique and says "Uncle Jeremiah is here? Where is he?" Barnabas and Angelique look at each other with wide eyes, and Barnabas only says "Sleep, Sarah. I will take you home." Sarah closes her eyes, and Barnabas tells Angelique "We will deal with this later...when Julia is feeling better." Angelique says that perhaps she could "handle this instead of Julia" and Barnabas only says that they will "discuss it later" as he carries Sarah out and Angelique follows. Quentin pours a drink and Harrison asks for one. "You deserve more than just a drink, Harrison," Quentin says. Harrison smiles and says "Perhaps, but right now all I want is just a drink." The two clink glasses and laugh a little. Meanwhile, Maggie is wandering through Nicholas' house wondering why she is there. "This is Nicholas Blair's house by the sea...." we hear her think. "Why would I be here? I don't remember coming here, or Nicholas inviting me.... he's such a mysterious man... almost frightening.... why do I think he's frightening? Something he did.... but I can't remember....I've got to remember..." She has reached the living room. "Perhaps I should just go home and forget it... if I see him I can always ask him later..." she thinks, but then she sees a gift wrapped package sitting on a table. She approaches it, and sees that it has a tag labeled "From Nicholas, To Maggie." Curious, she unwraps the package and finds what looks like a hatbox. "Did Nicholas leave this for me?" she thinks as she opens the box. Maggie reaches inside, and takes out what we recognize as Josette's music box. She opens it, and as the tune begins to play, Maggie looks deep in thought....
Lara Parker's voiceover: "A dark night at Collinwood, where the enemies of the Collins family have seen their evil plans of destruction come to pass... In a repeat of Friday's close, Barnabas is holding the gun on Julia. In the time that Barnabas says "Julia....forgive me..." Nicholas waves his hand and the gun flies out of Barnabas' grip and across the room. "Compassion is once again your downfall," says Julia, and as she waves her hand, the drawing room doors slam shut. "Now!" Julia says. Nicholas takes the ring out from beneath his shirt and places his hand over the crystal. "Open...." he says. "Open the eternal torment of the land of darkness....." Barnabas and Angelique see the planks, and then the vortex begins to form within it. As it comes into focus, we see that it is focused on a world of eternal hellfire, and we hear the screams of the souls being tormented. Julia raises her hand and suddenly Sarah stands. "Who is moving me? I can't stop! Uncle Barnabas! Make it stop!" she yells. "Sarah!" Barnabas yells back. Julia laughs as she moves her hand and Sarah helplessly begins to walk towards the burning hellfire in the vortex. "I can't stop moving towards it! Help me, Uncle Barnabas! Help me!" Julia laughs as Barnabas screams "Sarah!" and she moves closer and closer to the hellfire....
After the titles, Sarah starts to scream as she approaches the hellfire. Julia laughs as Barnabas vows "I'll destroy you, Blair!" Nicholas starts laughing, but stops when the drawing room doors burst open - Quentin and Harrison enter the room and see what's happening - and Nicholas is startled to see Quentin carrying Judah's head in its glass case! "Put that down, Quentin! You don't know what you have!" Nicholas says. "I think I know exactly what I found in your house by the sea, Blair! This thing opened its eyes and looked at me! It's taken possession of Julia Hoffman and that ends now!" Julia lunges at Quentin from behind, but he knocks her aside. Sarah screams and falls. Barnabas yells "Sarah!" but Harrison gets to Sarah and says "She's only fainted!" before yelling "Quentin! The vortex! The hellfire!" Quentin sees Nicholas coming towards him, and takes Judah's head out of the case. Nicholas yells "Stop!" but before he can do anything, Quentin throws Judah's head into the vortex of hellfire. Julia suddenly groans and falls against the couch, and we see the head trapped in the flames with its eyes wide open in shock. Nicholas yells "No!" as we see the face of Judah Zachary come out of Julia's body and drift towards the head in the burning vortex. "Oh my God..." Quentin says as the image of Judah finally meets the head - and when they meet, the head suddenly starts to scream in horrible agony. Nicholas yells "Judah! No!" as the head burns and screams. Suddenly, it's a burning skull with bloodshot eyeballs, screeching horribly as the hellfire consumes it. Nicholas looks at Quentin furiously and waves his hand, saying "You will pay for that, Quentin.... you will pay for that with everything you hold dear..." Quentin grabs his throat and begins to choke, but then Harrison has grabbed the fencing foil from the wall and slashes Nicholas' hand with it. Nicholas turns to face Harrison and snaps "You... you annoying insect! You came here to save these pitiful people, but it will be you who is destroyed!" Nicholas turns towards Harrison and starts to wave his hand, but suddenly Nicholas starts to cough and choke only to see Angelique waving her hand at him. "You gave me power, Nicholas.... and now you will see what I can do with it," she says. Barnabas goes to Julia and tries to revive her. "Julia! Julia! Speak to me!" he says. Quentin says "Blair can't fight us all at once! That's why he needed that thing! Keep distracting him!" Nicholas snarls "I have enough power for all of you! Even without Judah!" He stares Angelique down, who cannot fight back. She runs to Barnabas and says that Nicholas is too powerful. Nicholas sneers and again aims at Quentin, saying "I'll begin with aging you until you rot where you stand!" Quentin seems to face Nicholas alone.
Nicholas starts to wave his hands at Quentin, but suddenly the fencing foil is at his throat. He turns to face Harrison, laughing "Do you think you can kill me with such a mundane weapon? I am not human!" Harrison smiles, says "I am aware you are not human" and suddenly lunges the foil forward. We see the neck chain Nicholas is wearing snap. Nicholas yells "The ring!" just as Harrison makes another quick move with the foil - he has caught the ring on it, and as he raises the foil upwards, the ring slides to him! "I believe this is mine," he says, grabbing the ring and dropping the foil to the floor. "Quentin! Get out of the way!" Harrison yells as Nicholas starts towards him. "Give me that ring!" Nicholas thunders, but Harrison stands still, places his hand over the ring and says "Widen....open...widen...." Nicholas looks confused at first, but then turns to see the vortex is opening towards him! He tries to step out of the way, but Harrison moves with him, and Nicholas falls backwards with a scream. Quentin and Barnabas watch as Nicholas is surrounded by the burning hellfire. He, like Judah, screams in agony, and then his own head becomes a burning skull with bloodshot eyeballs. Quentin and Barnabas are disgusted, but Angelique smiles as she watches. Harrison brings the ring to his lips and says "Close..." and the vortex collapses upon itself taking Nicholas with it, his screeching agony fading away like dying echoes. He and Judah are gone. Harrison plops down into a chair with a heavy sigh. Quentin says "Is he gone? Are they really gone?" Harrison nods, and Angelique says "Yes... consumed by the same eternal hellfire they meant for us. My former master is not very forgiving." Quentin answers "I can't think of a better end for those two." Barnabas tries to revive Julia, and Quentin asks how Julia is. "I don't know!" Barnabas says. "I can't seem to wake her up!" Quentin and Barnabas look at each other.
Barnabas continues to try to revive Julia, who suddenly opens her eyes. She looks around and starts to wake up. "Barnabas...." she begins to say. "Julia...I am here! I am here! Please, tell me you're all right!" he says. She begins to cry hysterically, saying "I could see everything! I could see everything he made me do, and I couldn't stop myself! I couldn't stop myself! Forgive me, Barnabas! Forgive me!" Barnabas holds her close and tells her "I forgive you, Julia. I know you would never harm any of us! I know you love us too much." Angelique begins to frown watching Barnabas and Julia. Meanwhile, Liz, Carolyn, Alan and Vicky all begin to wake up, and wonder why they are in the drawing room. Barnabas tells Quentin and Angelique to see to them. Angelique says she'd rather stay with Barnabas. Liz and Alan don't know why they are downstairs, and only remember going to bed. Carolyn asks Vicky why they are all in the drawing room. Vicky tells Carolyn she doesn't remember, but then looks at Barnabas and Angelique and realizes what may have happened. Noticing Angelique's glares at the sobbing Julia, she tells Angelique to wait behind with Sarah and that she will help Alan, Liz and Carolyn upstairs. Harrison lifts Sarah and places her on the couch. Quentin remarks how good it is that no one seems to have a memory of what just happened. "Sarah was conscious throughout much of it," Barnabas frets. "I hope she doesn't remember. It would be too horrible for a child to remember what just happened." Quentin answers "It's pretty bad for anyone to remember what just happened." As Barnabas looks at Sarah, we dissolve to Maggie, waking up in Nicholas' house. The armoire has been smashed open. Maggie looks around and then says "What... what am I doing here?"
Julia is drinking some tea and reassures Barnabas that she is fine now. Angelique tugs at Barnabas and tells him that they will need to take Sarah home. "Julia can handle herself," she adds jealously. Barnabas starts to pick Sarah up off the couch, and she awakens a little. "Barnabas?" she says. "Yes, Sarah...it's me. Everything is going to be all right now," he says. "Why did they want to hurt me?" she asks. Barnabas thinks a moment and says "You were only having a bad dream. You must forget about it. I am here now, and I promise you, no one will ever try to harm you, ever." Angelique tells her "Your uncle and I will take you home to sleep now." Sarah looks at Angelique and says "Uncle Jeremiah is here? Where is he?" Barnabas and Angelique look at each other with wide eyes, and Barnabas only says "Sleep, Sarah. I will take you home." Sarah closes her eyes, and Barnabas tells Angelique "We will deal with this later...when Julia is feeling better." Angelique says that perhaps she could "handle this instead of Julia" and Barnabas only says that they will "discuss it later" as he carries Sarah out and Angelique follows. Quentin pours a drink and Harrison asks for one. "You deserve more than just a drink, Harrison," Quentin says. Harrison smiles and says "Perhaps, but right now all I want is just a drink." The two clink glasses and laugh a little. Meanwhile, Maggie is wandering through Nicholas' house wondering why she is there. "This is Nicholas Blair's house by the sea...." we hear her think. "Why would I be here? I don't remember coming here, or Nicholas inviting me.... he's such a mysterious man... almost frightening.... why do I think he's frightening? Something he did.... but I can't remember....I've got to remember..." She has reached the living room. "Perhaps I should just go home and forget it... if I see him I can always ask him later..." she thinks, but then she sees a gift wrapped package sitting on a table. She approaches it, and sees that it has a tag labeled "From Nicholas, To Maggie." Curious, she unwraps the package and finds what looks like a hatbox. "Did Nicholas leave this for me?" she thinks as she opens the box. Maggie reaches inside, and takes out what we recognize as Josette's music box. She opens it, and as the tune begins to play, Maggie looks deep in thought....

After a replay of Thursday's close and the titles, Barnabas lets go of Nicholas at the old house. "Well," Nicholas says. "I see we can still be civilized about all of this." Angelique snaps "What would you know about anything civil? To use an innocent child against us!" Nicholas laughs and says "My, my, how you've changed. Wasn't it using an innocent child that led to your, shall we say, original marital problems?" Barnabas tells Nicholas to get to the point. "The point is that you will both come with me to Collinwood, if you want a chance to save your friends." Barnabas says "And if I refuse to follow you?" Nicholas says "Then they will suffer eternal torment. Their only chance is if you come with me. You two are the focus of Judah's revenge, after all." Barnabas says "So you finally admit the truth. This is yours and Judah's final chance to fulfill your master's wishes. What will happen to you if I don't follow you?" Nicholas, angry, says "Do not attempt to bluff me with empty threats about my master, Barnabas! Judah and I are too powerful for that!" Barnabas answers "I want the safety of everyone in that house promised to me." Angelique tells Barnabas that Nicholas' promises mean nothing, but Barnabas tells her that they may have no other choice. Nicholas smiles. Meanwhile, Carolyn sleeps as Julia enters her room. Julia walks over to Carolyn and presses her thumb against her forehead. Carolyn wakes, but sits up passively before standing in front of Julia. "Go down to the drawing room, Carolyn.... and sit beside your Collins sister...." Carolyn walks out, zombielike, as Julia smiles.
Maggie walks through the woods towards Nicholas' house as Harrison and Quentin follow. She enters the house and goes upstairs, and Harrison and Quentin continue on. Quentin says they may have to search the whole house before Nicholas gets back, but Harrison says his hunch is still to follow Maggie. They both head upstairs. Maggie enters Julia's room, where her medical bag is on a dresser and some of her clothes are on the bed, next to an open suitcase. Maggie sees the bag, and then looks at the armoire as we hear Nicholas' voice echoing "Look for Julia's medical bag in the room at the far end of the hall. Do not open the armoire in that room under any circumstances until I arrive. Do you understand?" Maggie says "I understand," and sits on the bed. Harrison and Quentin enter, and Quentin says "Maggie! Do you know where you are? Do you know why you're here?" Maggie looks at Quentin and says "Quentin... I must wait here. I must wait here." Harrison starts looking through Julia's medical bag and says "Julia brought all of her things here. The ring may be here, somewhere in this room!" He starts to look through the drawers, and Quentin tries to open the armoire. It is locked, but as he tries, Maggie shouts "Do not open the armoire! Nicholas must arrive!" She struggles with Quentin trying to make him stop, and he throws her down on the bed. She tries to stop him again, and this time Harrison has opened a bottle from Julia's medical bag. "What is that?" Quentin says. "A bottle of ether!" Harrison says. "Hold her!" As Quentin holds her, Harrison covers her mouth and nose with a cloth he's soaked in the ether and Maggie passes out on the bed. Quentin tells Harrison "that was quick thinking." Harrison says "Thanks. It seemed like her entire bag was filled with sedatives. Does Julia Hoffman ever prescribe anything else?" Quentin answers "I suppose we Collinses are an overly excitable bunch. Help me get this armoire open. It seems Nicholas wants it closed when he's not around..." Harrison and Quentin begin to break open the armoire.
At Collinwood, Julia is leading Alan and Liz down the stairs. They are both walking passively towards the drawing room, and soon take their places beside Carolyn and Vicky. Sarah is still immobilized but awake. "I don't like this game!" Sarah says. "I want to go home!" Julia answers "The game will be over soon.... over for all eternity!" Back at the old house, Nicholas tells Barnabas that if he wants to save anyone, he will have to come to Collinwood with Angelique now. Barnabas secretly puts a gun in his jacket pocket and then turns to tell Nicholas that he is ready. Angelique saw Barnabas take the gun and they look at each other. Nicholas leaves first, and says "I'll be waiting for you at the great house!" Angelique says "Barnabas, that may not do any good." "Perhaps not," Barnabas says. "But if what Nicholas and Judah have planned is worse than death, then perhaps death could be our answer." Angelique says "No! There must be another way!" Barnabas takes Angelique into his arms and says "Whatever happens....you must know that I will always love you." Angelique answers "And I, you." They kiss. At Collinwood, Nicholas enters and sees that Julia has assembled everyone in the drawing room under her spell. "We are ready," Julia says. Nicholas smiles. "I want to go home!" Sarah yells. "Why can't I move! I'm scared!" Nicholas walks over to her and says "Don't be scared, Sarah! Your Uncle Barnabas is on the way to play our game with us!" Sarah says "I don't want to play a game, I want to go home!" Nicholas says "But Sarah! In this game, you get to go first!" Nicholas and Julia start laughing as Sarah struggles.

Alexandra Moltke's voiceover: "My name is Victoria Winters. After long last discovering my true identity as a member of the Collins family, I had thought it would bring me peace and happiness. But little did I realize that the Collins family has enemies....enemies from a dark and terrifying power who are now putting their plans in motion to destroy the Collins family...."
In Vicky's room, Vicky still cannot speak as Julia walks around her. "You, my dear, will be the first part of the plan..." Julia says as she takes Vicky's hand again. Vicky stops struggling and stares at Julia. "Yes... look into my eyes and you will see what I want you to do.... my will overpowers yours....you know what you must do now..." Julia says. Vicky passively says "I know what I must do." Julia lets her go and Vicky leaves the room as Julia smiles.
After the titles, Barnabas returns to the old house and tells Angelique "I saw Blair. I hope what I told him buys Quentin and Harrison enough time." Angelique asks Barnabas what Nicholas did, and Barnabas tells her that he saw Nicholas leave the house, most likely to look for Julia. "Do you think they can find the ring?" Angelique asks Barnabas. Barnabas says they must, or "all could be lost." There is a knock at the door, and Barnabas wonders if it's Nicholas. He answers the door, and it's Vicky. "Vicky! What are you doing here at this hour?" he says. Vicky says she must come in, because she "just had a horrible dream...a dream where Sarah was in danger." Barnabas tells her that Sarah is in her room, asleep. Vicky says she has to make sure, and must see that Sarah is all right. Barnabas thanks her for her concern and tells her to go upstairs and see for herself. Vicky goes upstairs with a sly smile that Barnabas does not see. Meanwhile, Nicholas shows up at Collinwood and sees Julia coming down the stairs. "Barnabas came to see me! He knows too much!" Julia tells Nicholas to calm down, and that "everything is going according to the plan. Did you bring it?" Nicholas answers "Of course, it never leaves me." He takes Harrison's ring from under his shirt, where he has it hanging on a neck chain. Julia looks at it and says "Excellent. One need not wear the ring, only touch the crystal to enable it's energies. And once we gather everyone here, we can begin...." She and Nicholas smile at each other.
At the old house, Quentin and Harrison enter and tell Barnabas they saw Julia and Nicholas enter Collinwood. Barnabas frets that no one there may be safe, but Quentin points out that this would be the time to search Nicholas' house. "Especially if you can find a way to keep him here," he adds. Barnabas says that he thought Nicholas would come to the old house after "I had told him I knew of his plans. I didn't think he'd go to Collinwood instead." Harrison answers that maybe it's because Julia is giving the orders now. Angelique agrees, but Barnabas says "There may be another reason. He may want something...." Angelique says that she's glad Vicky came over to see Sarah, since "that's one less person to worry about." Harrison reminds Angelique that Vicky and Sarah were both in his vision of his own time. Barnabas suddenly gets scared and starts calling upstairs for Vicky. There is no answer. Barnabas and Angelique run upstairs and head to Sarah's room. They open the door, and they see the window is open and that Vicky and Sarah are gone.
At Collinwood, Nicholas is walking through the hallway until he stops at door and knocks. Maggie answers, and she asks Nicholas what he's doing there at such a late hour. He smiles at her and says "I have come to spare you, Miss Evans. It is something I must do." Maggie steps away from him wondering what is going on, and he waves his hand before her eyes. "Look at me," he says. "You will leave this place tonight. You will walk to my house, the house by the sea, and you will wait for me in Julia's room. Can you find where Julia's room is?" Maggie says "Julia?" Nicholas answers "Look for Julia's medical bag in the room at the far end of the hall. Do not open the armoire in that room under any circumstances until I arrive. Do you understand?" Maggie nods yes, and starts to walk out of the room. We hear Nicholas think "That's it, Maggie.... just wait for me there. Once we have accomplished our work here, there is no reason for Judah to possess Julia Hoffman anymore. You will help me in a ceremony where his powers will combine with mine....and then you will be mine forever!" Meanwhile downstairs, Julia comes out of the drawing room and sees Maggie coming down the stairs. She moves towards her, but Nicholas appears at the top of the staircase and tells Julia to let Maggie go. Julia objects, saying that "all who live in this house should be destroyed!" Nicholas answers that Maggie is not a Collins, and "will be spared for my own purposes." Julia scowls at Nicholas and says "once again you give into human emotions. Our master will not be pleased!" Nicholas answers that "our master will welcome her into our fold... once she has been properly conditioned." Maggie goes out the door, and as she walks down the pathway, Quentin and Harrison see her leave. "Blair and Julia are still inside," Quentin says. "Something was wrong with Maggie." Harrison says "It may be that Barnabas was fight. Nicholas still desires her, and sent her away before they attempt their plan. Perhaps we should follow her." Quentin says "We're going to Blair's house anyway." Harrison says "Yes, but something tells me that whatever Nicholas has planned for Maggie Evans may involve what we are looking for." Quentin and Harrison follow after her.
Julia opens the secret panel in the drawing room, and Vicky and Sarah come out. Sarah asks "why am I here? Why did you bring me here? Vicky answers "It's just a game, Sarah. We're playing a game." Julia looks at Sarah and says "Sarah Collins.... living here and now, in this time. Nothing short of a miracle. Barnabas must be so happy to have you back." Sarah says "Uncle Barnabas?" Julia smiles and says "Uncle Barnabas! I see we're not the only ones who play games with you, Sarah. Do you want to play a new game?" Sarah says she's very tired. Julia says "This game may be a little frightening for you, but I think it will be necessary." Julia presses her thumb against Vicky's forehead, and Vicky closes her eyes and sits down on the couch. "What did you do?" Sarah says. "I put her to sleep, for a while," Julia answers. "Are you going to make me sleep too?" Sarah asks. Julia smiles and says "No, Sarah. For this game, I want you to be awake the whole time." Meanwhile, there is a knock at the door of the old house. Barnabas answers, and it's Nicholas. "You have your nerve coming here!" Barnabas snarls. "Let's, as you say, dispense with the formalities, shall we?" Nicholas says. "Yes, let's," answers Barnabas. Barnabas suddenly grabs Nicholas and shoves him against the wall. "Tell me what you have done with Sarah and Vicky or I'll kill you right now!" Barnabas growls. "I don't think you will, Barnabas. If you ever want to see either of them again. And I don't need to remind you that there are things.....worse than death," Nicholas says with a smile. Back in the drawing room, Vicky is still sitting with her eyes closed, and Sarah sits next to her. "Why can't I move?" she says, struggling. Julia laughs and says "it's all part of the game, Sarah." Julia walks to the opened secret panel and takes four planks from the staircase she had hidden there. She lays them on the floor in a square as Harrison had done in the lab. "And soon," Julia continues. "We shall have more people to play with us!" Julia laughs as Sarah starts to get scared.

In Vicky's room, Vicky still cannot speak as Julia walks around her. "You, my dear, will be the first part of the plan..." Julia says as she takes Vicky's hand again. Vicky stops struggling and stares at Julia. "Yes... look into my eyes and you will see what I want you to do.... my will overpowers yours....you know what you must do now..." Julia says. Vicky passively says "I know what I must do." Julia lets her go and Vicky leaves the room as Julia smiles.
After the titles, Barnabas returns to the old house and tells Angelique "I saw Blair. I hope what I told him buys Quentin and Harrison enough time." Angelique asks Barnabas what Nicholas did, and Barnabas tells her that he saw Nicholas leave the house, most likely to look for Julia. "Do you think they can find the ring?" Angelique asks Barnabas. Barnabas says they must, or "all could be lost." There is a knock at the door, and Barnabas wonders if it's Nicholas. He answers the door, and it's Vicky. "Vicky! What are you doing here at this hour?" he says. Vicky says she must come in, because she "just had a horrible dream...a dream where Sarah was in danger." Barnabas tells her that Sarah is in her room, asleep. Vicky says she has to make sure, and must see that Sarah is all right. After a replay of Tuesday's close, Julia chokes Angelique while sneering "Do you think your pitiful spells can overpower me? I will destroy you!" Angelique struggles, but then Julia thinks a moment and says "...but not here. And not now." Julia drops Angelique to the ground, who gasps for breath. "Julia Hoffman is gone forever. There is only me now, as much as this body will not suit my needs forever." Angelique gasps "I will find a way to destroy you, Judah! Once and for all!" Julia smiles and says "I think an immortal body would suit me better....yes....." and starts laughing as Angelique manages to get away. Julia shouts "Run, Miranda! Run! Your time will come! Your time will come!" Meanwhile, Barnabas is waiting in the old house when Quentin and Harrison arrive. They ask if Angelique has returned yet, and Barnabas answers no. Quentin tells Barnabas how the staircase planks are missing and that "Blair must have them and the ring. We have to get them back!" Barnabas answers that Blair may have hidden them anywhere, and Harrison answers "Yes. But if you would find some reason to lure him away from his house, it may give Quentin and I a chance to search for them." Barnabas thinks about this.
Angelique comes back into the old house, very upset by her encounter with Julia. Barnabas finds out that the exorcism didn't work, and Angelique answers "Judah may be too powerful to fight!" Barnabas says he refuses to believe that. He looks at Harrison and says "If you get that ring back along with the parts of that staircase, you can open the time vortex, can't you?" Harrison answers yes, but that it's more important to get them away from Nicholas. Barnabas agrees, but adds that "perhaps Harrison could open the time vortex to a few weeks ago, long ago enough to prevent what's happened to Julia." Harrison says that it would be possible, but "still may not prevent the future I've witnessed." Quentin says that "it would be preferable to the only other option." Barnabas says he cannot let Julia die. Angelique says "She is no longer Julia. Julia Hoffman may no longer exist!" Barnabas doesn't want to hear this. Meanwhile, Julia returns to Nicholas' house, and greets him with a recap of her encounter with Angelique. "It was so tempting..." she says. "to squeeze the life out of Miranda DuVal with these very hands.... but I'd rather we stick to our original plan." Nicholas answers "So I assume they made the move you expected them to?" Julia answers "Yes. And now the time has come for us to make our first move." Nicholas smiles.
Nicholas is about to go to bed when there is a knock at the door. When he answers it, Barnabas asks if he can come in with a smile. Nicholas invites him in, and Barnabas says "Let's dispense with formalities, shall we? I know exactly what you are planning, and you will never succeed." Nicholas says "Oh? And who told you I am planning anything?" Barnabas answers "Come, come, Blair. Let's not play games anymore. You have Harrison's ring and you stole the planks to the staircase in the old laboratory. It's fairly simple to figure out your plans." Nicholas smiles and says "Then you should realize that I hold all the trump cards, Mr. Collins. Including Julia Hoffman." Barnabas answers "I resolved to kill you, Blair, if any harm comes to Julia. That promise still stands. As far as your own plans, you may want to alter them." Nicholas snaps "Alter them? Why?" Barnabas answers "Because you assume there is only one such ring, and one such staircase in Collinwood." Nicholas answers "You're bluffing." Barnabas answers "Am I? Do you want to risk your life on it, Blair? On this, your third attempt at destroying the Collins family? Yes, Blair...I know all about your master's rules. If I were you, I would be very very careful." Barnabas walks out of the house, and Nicholas thinks about what he has said. After a few moments, Nicholas takes off his robe and puts his jacket back on, leaving the house as well.
At Collinwood, Vicky is turning out the lights in the drawing room and heading upstairs. After she goes through the hallway door, Julia enters the house quietly. She walks over to the portrait of Barnabas and sneers at it before looking at the darkened drawing room and then heading upstairs herself. Vicky has entered her room and is getting ready for bed when Julia enters. "Julia! You startled me! Where have you been? I haven't seen you around Collinwood lately." Julia smiles and answers "Oh, I've been in the village, over to the old house, around." Vicky smiles and says "You always seem to busy. Honestly, ever since I've been back here I don't know what to do with myself. At least before I knew I was a Collins I could be the governess. I don't know if I'm quite used to being anything else around here yet." Julia thinks a moment and says to herself "Yes... you are a Collins too, of course...." Vicky, noticing the strange behavior, asks Julia if anything is wrong. Julia smiles at her and says no, and then takes her hand. "Nothing at all is wrong, my dear..." Julia continues. After a replay of Monday's close, Barnabas insists there must be a way to "free Julia." Stokes answers that "without destroying the object the possession is focused upon, there may be no other way." Quentin says "What about an exorcism of some sort?" Barnabas agrees, but Stokes is skeptical, reminding them how such exorcisms have failed in the past. Angelique is thinking for a moment, and then tells Barnabas "Perhaps there could be another way." She asks Stokes if a "counter spell" could be used to rid Julia of Judah's spirit. Stokes says it's possible, but that it will all depend on how powerful Judah is. Barnabas says they should "at least try" since he doesn't want to see Julia die. Stokes answers that there is a talisman that can be "energized" by "certain spells" that "may indeed flush the presence out of Julia if the talisman comes into contact with her." Angelique tells Stokes that she knows what spells he is talking about, and Stokes smiles at her, saying "I must confess, my dear, that you make for a most alluring ally in these matters." Stokes says he will return to his house with Angelique to get the talisman. Barnabas is hopeful that this will work, but Quentin asks him what will happen if it doesn't. Harrison repeats the question, and Barnabas says "I have no answer." Quentin takes the gun out of the desk and says that it may be the only answer.
Harrison and Barnabas are waiting in the old house for Angelique to return from Stokes. Harrison tells Barnabas that he hopes the talisman will work. Barnabas answers that "you don't know how much I hope so." Harrison asks Barnabas "Julia Hoffman means an awful lot to you, doesn't she?" Barnabas answers yes, and tells Harrison "she means an awful lot to all of us. No wonder Blair decided to use her in this fashion." Harrison says that if what Stokes said was correct, it may be possible that Julia is fighting the actions of Judah, trying to regain control of herself. Barnabas agrees, but adds that Judah's will may be too powerful. Meanwhile, Stokes searches through some boxes as Angelique waits. He finally takes out a small ankh medallion. "This is what I was talking about," he says. Angelique takes the medallion and says "The ankh... the symbol of life." Stokes answers "Exactly. With the right spell, it may strengthen Julia Hoffman's life force, giving her the power the fight off the possession." Angelique answers she will give it a powerful spell. Stokes answers "And all that needs to be done after that is to somehow get Julia Hoffman to come into contact with it." Angelique looks at Stokes and tells him "I believe I can arrange that."
Harrison is thinking while swirling his drink. Quentin tells him that all they can do is wait to see if Angelique is successful. Harrison answers that he was thinking about Blair's possible plans. Quentin answers "That's easy to figure out. He wants to kill us all." Harrison says "Yes, but how? In my time, I saw everyone burning in eternal hellfire, within this very room." Quentin says it must have been "some sort of spell" created by Nicholas. Harrison answers that the hellfire was "somehow different" when he saw his time in Angelique's vision. "There was something else in the room... something that wasn't there before.....I can only see it in the corner of my mind...." Quentin asks him if he thinks it's an important clue, and suddenly Harrison has a look of revelation on his face. "The planks! I saw the planks in this room!" Quentin says "Planks?" Harrison answers "The broken planks from the staircase in the old laboratory! The other part of the time vortex, along with my missing ring!" Quentin starts to figure some of it out and says "Assuming Blair stole that ring, and moves those planks to this room, could he....." Harrison nods. "Yes. He could open the time vortex and focus it on eternal hellfire. From what I saw in my own time, that must be his plan!" Meanwhile, Angelique waits by the fountain for a moment, and then Julia walks towards her. She curls her mouth into a smile as Angelique turns to face her and says "I got your message, Angelique. And how could I resist coming here to see my one time apprentice?" Angelique handles the talisman in her hand, hiding it from Julia.
Angelique looks at Julia and says "I'm here to tell you to give back Julia Hoffman. It's me and only me you want anyway, Judah." Julia laughs and sneers at Angelique for being so "heroic." Julia walks closer to Angelique adding "Do you think I would spare the Collinses only for the likes of you? Miranda....who condemned me to death? Or Valery, who once again tried to destroy me? Powers that will grow and consume your soul the more you use them, driving you further from the humanity you've gained and back to your master, back to where you belong! Once you have been properly punished, of course..." Angelique starts to incant "Power of life....power of will.... you will return to Julia Hoffman.... you will gain control once again....." Julia turns to find Angelique suddenly in front of her, and Angelique presses the ankh medallion against Julia's forehead. Julia screams in pain and collapses to the ground. Meanwhile, Harrison and Quentin are going down the stairs to the laboratory in a hurry. "The ring is useless without the planks from the staircase," Harrison says. "All we need to do is keep them from Nicholas. He must plan to take them." They get downstairs, and see that the pile of planks is already gone. Quentin looks at Harrison and says "It seems we're one move too late. They're gone." Harrison is exasperated. Meanwhile, Angelique stands over Julia wondering what has happened. Julia begins to come to, and Angelique says "Julia.... Julia Hoffman! Julia?" Julia looks at her and says "Yes...? Angelique.....where am I?" Thrilled, Angelique kneels down to help Julia up, saying "Julia! It worked! You are free!" Suddenly, Julia grabs Angelique by the throat and says "More free than you realize, Miranda....." Angelique starts to choke.
After a replay of Monday's close, Barnabas insists there must be a way to "free Julia." Stokes answers that "without destroying the object the possession is focused upon, there may be no other way." Quentin says "What about an exorcism of some sort?" Barnabas agrees, but Stokes is skeptical, reminding them how such exorcisms have failed in the past. Angelique is thinking for a moment, and then tells Barnabas "Perhaps there could be another way." She asks Stokes if a "counter spell" could be used to rid Julia of Judah's spirit. Stokes says it's possible, but that it will all depend on how powerful Judah is. Barnabas says they should "at least try" since he doesn't want to see Julia die. Stokes answers that there is a talisman that can be "energized" by "certain spells" that "may indeed flush the presence out of Julia if the talisman comes into contact with her." Angelique tells Stokes that she knows what spells he is talking about, and Stokes smiles at her, saying "I must confess, my dear, that you make for a most alluring ally in these matters." Stokes says he will return to his house with Angelique to get the talisman. Barnabas is hopeful that this will work, but Quentin asks him what will happen if it doesn't. Harrison repeats the question, and Barnabas says "I have no answer." Quentin takes the gun out of the desk and says that it may be the only answer.
Harrison and Barnabas are waiting in the old house for Angelique to return from Stokes. Harrison tells Barnabas that he hopes the talisman will work. Barnabas answers that "you don't know how much I hope so." Harrison asks Barnabas "Julia Hoffman means an awful lot to you, doesn't she?" Barnabas answers yes, and tells Harrison "she means an awful lot to all of us. No wonder Blair decided to use her in this fashion." Harrison says that if what Stokes said was correct, it may be possible that Julia is fighting the actions of Judah, trying to regain control of herself. Barnabas agrees, but adds that Judah's will may be too powerful. Meanwhile, Stokes searches through some boxes as Angelique waits. He finally takes out a small ankh medallion. "This is what I was talking about," he says. Angelique takes the medallion and says "The ankh... the symbol of life." Stokes answers "Exactly. With the right spell, it may strengthen Julia Hoffman's life force, giving her the power the fight off the possession." Angelique answers she will give it a powerful spell. Stokes answers "And all that needs to be done after that is to somehow get Julia Hoffman to come into contact with it." Angelique looks at Stokes and tells him "I believe I can arrange that."
Harrison is thinking while swirling his drink. Quentin tells him that all they can do is wait to see if Angelique is successful. Harrison answers that he was thinking about Blair's possible plans. Quentin answers "That's easy to figure out. He wants to kill us all." Harrison says "Yes, but how? In my time, I saw everyone burning in eternal hellfire, within this very room." Quentin says it must have been "some sort of spell" created by Nicholas. Harrison answers that the hellfire was "somehow different" when he saw his time in Angelique's vision. "There was something else in the room... something that wasn't there before.....I can only see it in the corner of my mind...." Quentin asks him if he thinks it's an important clue, and suddenly Harrison has a look of revelation on his face. "The planks! I saw the planks in this room!" Quentin says "Planks?" Harrison answers "The broken planks from the staircase in the old laboratory! The other part of the time vortex, along with my missing ring!" Quentin starts to figure some of it out and says "Assuming Blair stole that ring, and moves those planks to this room, could he....." Harrison nods. "Yes. He could open the time vortex and focus it on eternal hellfire. From what I saw in my own time, that must be his plan!" Meanwhile, Angelique waits by the fountain for a moment, and then Julia walks towards her. She curls her mouth into a smile as Angelique turns to face her and says "I got your message, Angelique. And how could I resist coming here to see my one time apprentice?" Angelique handles the talisman in her hand, hiding it from Julia.
Angelique looks at Julia and says "I'm here to tell you to give back Julia Hoffman. It's me and only me you want anyway, Judah." Julia laughs and sneers at Angelique for being so "heroic." Grayson Hall's voiceover: "The darkness that covers the great estate at Collinwood has been pierced by the light of a fire... a fire that has revealed the face of an enemy of those who live here, an enemy that has taken possession of Julia Hoffman and has tried to kill Harrison Collins through the use of the black arts. On this night, these acts of evil will be uncovered, and a battle to control the future of the Collins family will begin..."
In a repeat of Friday's close, Angelique chants before the fire as Barnabas watches. "Show your face to me.....show your face to me now....." she demands. The fires blur and start to reform themselves as Barnabas watches, fascinated. Slowly, the begin to form an image as Angelique watches. Barnabas suddenly is stunned and says "Oh my God!" We see the image of Judah's head in the fire, laughing. Angelique runs to Barnabas and shields her from the image. "Judah Zachary!" he says. Back at Collinwood, Julia is watching Harrison choke with a smile when suddenly he starts to breathe again. He starts to catch his breath, much to Julia's surprise. She turns to see Quentin standing angrily in the doorway of the drawing room. He lets the scarf roll out of his hand, as he has untied it from the doll. "Harrison is breathing normally again, I assume." he says. Julia says yes nervously. "Well, then it seems I found the miracle cure without even bringing you your bag," Quentin says, sarcastically adding "doctor!" Julia takes a step back as Harrison and Quentin looks at each other.
After the titles, Quentin demands to know "what is going on here." Harrison sits up and says "She's not the Julia Hoffman you know, somehow." Julia glares at Harrison and says "You interfering little snit! I should squash you like a bug!" Quentin angrily snaps "Julia! What's wrong with you? Answer me!" Julia begins to laugh. "And you.... so overconfident in your immortality, or what you think will be immortality! You too will be destroyed, Collins!" Quentin looks Julia over and asks "Who are you? Why have you taken Julia Hoffman?" Julia answers "Honestly, it wasn't my first choice, but I must admit I'm enjoying your reaction. The face of one betrayed by a friend is truly a joy to behold." Quentin takes a step towards her, but she suddenly waves her hand and Quentin grabs his eyes. "I can't see!" he yells. As Harrison moves towards him, Julia waves her hand and suddenly Harrison has been blinded too. "That light....so bright! I can't see anything!" he says. Julia laughs and walks out of the room. As the door slams behind her, Quentin and Harrison start to recover. "The fire....I can just barely make it out," Harrison says. "All I saw was a bright flash," Quentin says. "But I can see again....barely. Looking at the fire helps." As we look at the fire, we cut to the fire at the old house as Judah's head fades away. "How could Judah be here now?" Barnabas says. "I saw that head destroyed back in 1840!" Angelique answers that if Harrison could travel through time and "pluck Victoria Winters from her former destruction" it would make sense that Nicholas could have somehow saved Judah from his final fate. "Judah was always my enemy," she adds. "And he is yours as well, one of my former master's minions sent to destroy the Collins family." Barnabas thinks a moment. "Once in 1693, again in 1840... and his third attempt is now.... we must defeat him, Angelique, we must! Either we will destroy him or he will destroy us." Angelique answers "More than just us, Barnabas. Everyone who bears the Collins name is in mortal danger." Barnabas asks "How will Nicholas use the power in that head?" Angelique says "Perhaps he already has. Perhaps someone has been possessed by Judah already!" Barnabas considers this.
Barnabas is putting on his coat to leave the old house when Harrison and Quentin suddenly enter. "Where is Julia? Did she come here?" Quentin asks. Barnabas says no, and Quentin answers "Thank God." Barnabas asks what has happened, and Quentin answers "There's something wrong with Julia. She's not herself somehow. She tried to kill Harrison!" Barnabas and Angelique look at each other. "How do you know that?" Barnabas asks. Harrison explains how he was choking mysteriously until Quentin found his scarf. "It was choking a doll I found in her room. Since when does Julia Hoffman practice the black arts?" Angelique says "Julia Hoffman doesn't, but Judah Zachary does!" Quentin asks "Judah Zachary?" Barnabas snaps "No! I refuse to believe it! I cannot let myself think that Julia has been possessed!" Angelique tells Barnabas that Julia "had no choice in the matter" and that "Judah's spirit can overpower any mortal." Harrison asks who Judah Zachary is, and Barnabas answers "An old old enemy of the Collins family. An enemy that Nicholas Blair has somehow brought back to destroy us!" Quentin says "By possessing Julia Hoffman?" Barnabas answers "Yes..... someone we all trust. Someone who has complete access to all of us." Harrison says "She knows that we know. She no longer has that access, or that trust." Quentin says "She must have gone straight to Blair. They'll probably move forward with whatever they have planned now that she's been revealed." Harrison asks Barnabas "You've dealt with this spirit before? This Judah Zachary?" Barnabas answers "Yes. Angelique destroyed him, or so we thought. He had taken possession of a friend of the Collins family, and then attempted to destroy the family and take over Collinwood. It is clear we will need to destroy Judah once more, for all time." Quentin asks "What happened to that friend of the Collinses who was possessed?" Angelique and Barnabas look at each other a moment, and Angelique answers "He...died as well." Harrison says "Barnabas...this must be the reason I was sent here. We must stop her." Barnabas answers "I know. But I also know that I cannot let Julia Hoffman die!"
Julia enters Nicholas' house and he asks her what she's doing there. "Harrison is still alive, but not for long," she says. "But he and Quentin know that I am no longer Julia Hoffman." She walks to the mirror and admires herself as she continues "Besides, I want Barnabas and Angelique to know who is about to destroy them. The cat plays with its kill before delivering the final blow, doesn't he?" Nicholas says that they are taking a chance if they don't "move forward" soon. Julia answers "You don't think I've thought of that? I've already made preliminary arrangements for our plan, Nicholas. All we need to is wait for them to make their next move. And then, we can spring our trap." Nicholas asks "Their next move? What would that be?" Julia answers with a laugh "If I read Barnabas right....I think they'll try to save me!" Nicholas and Julia laugh. Meanwhile, Stokes has arrived at Collinwood and is inspecting the doll along with Barnabas. He tells Barnabas that "it certainly could have been used in some incantation." Harrison enters the room and tells them that all of Julia's things "are gone." Barnabas says sadly "No doubt she's gone to Blair's. There must be some way to end this!" Stokes answers that if she's under Blair's control "and he's as powerful as we remember, Julia may be in grave danger." Harrison says that she's not under Blair's control, but "possessed by some spirit named Judah Zachary." Stokes looks at Barnabas and says "Judah Zachary! How could that be when he was destroyed...." Barnabas answers "It's the only answer we have!" Stokes replies "It's not a good answer for Julia Hoffman, I fear. Ending the possession may mean ending her life as well." It was the source of his power, and was linked to those he possessed." Stokes says "We must find that head, then, since it was obviously used to possess Julia." Quentin says "You told me the head was destroyed. When Gerard Stiles was exposed, Judah's head turned into a skull and crumbled!" Barnabas agrees, saying "I saw that head destroyed." Stokes answers "It seems our Mr. Blair has found a way to restore Judah's power. The only way to free Julia Hoffman may be to find that head and destroy it somehow." Lara Parker's voiceover: "Barnabas Collins has learned of a curse on the entire Collins family, first placed upon the patriarch of the family in the year 1651. The only escape the family has from destruction is if they can defeat the minions of the damned three times through their strength and virtue. But unknown to Barnabas is that one of those minions has taken possession of his trusted friend Julia Hoffman, who on this night, plans to wipe out the Collins family forever...."
Julia walks into a room in Nicholas' house and opens a closet door. Inside on a small pedestal is Judah's head inside its glass box. It opens its eyes as Julia stands in front of it transfixed. It gives a sly smile to Julia as her eyes turn red and she nods back. She closes the closet door as Nicholas walks in. "There you are," he says. "What was so urgent about your return here?" Julia stretches a bit and remarks how "renewed" she feels, and then adds "I came here with the utmost urgency because I've decided we need to move forward with our plans immediately." Nicholas protests that they are not ready, and that they will need to "prepare things at Collinwood." Julia answers "I can deal with Collinwood later. Right now, I must deal with Harrison Collins." She takes the scarf from her pocket and says "And deal with him I will."
After the titles, Stokes looks through some old books as Barnabas watches. "A fascinating story about your ancestor, Barnabas," Stokes says. "If I had heard it from anyone else, I would have thought it a fanciful Puritan legend." Barnabas insists that the story must hold a clue as to which spirit they are dealing with. Stokes answers "You ignore something quite obvious though." Barnabas asks what, and Stokes answers "Nicholas Blair. This is the third time we have had to deal with him and his nefarious powers." Barnabas answers "Yes! According to the legend, the minions of the damned had three chances before they themselves were forever condemned." Stokes answers "Yes, which means if the legend is true, Nicholas Blair has this one last chance to defeat you. He was defeated when he tried to control Adam, and again when we fought the Leviathan threat. This is his last chance, whatever he's attempting." Barnabas looks out the window and says "Adam.... I wonder whatever became of him." Stokes gets a little evasive and answers "We needn't worry about that now. I have a possible answer to narrow our search. It would make sense if Nicholas' helper spirit was also attempting to vex the Collinses a third time. If Nicholas was worried about failure and wanted help, one can assume that the spirit helping him is in the same position." Petofi appeared twice! Once in 1897, and once some months ago." Stokes mulls this over, but answers "I would mark that to coincidence. Petofi was a man of fantastic powers to be sure, but nothing indicates he was a servant of the dark master." Barnabas, frustrated, says "there must be someone." Stokes answers that they will need to go over the entire history of the Collins family, search for "anomalies" and see "if anything matches up." Barnabas and Stokes sit down and begin to look through his books.
Julia returns to Collinwood and sees Harrison and Quentin playing chess in the drawing room. She sneaks upstairs and moves through the hall way to her room. She closes the door and takes the scarf from her pocket. From the other, she removes a small doll that resembles Harrison somewhat. She starts to chuckle to herself. In the drawing room, Harrison puts Quentin in check. Quentin asks Harrison what he was thinking when he told Julia how he could destroy demons. Harrison answers "I want to see what her reaction will be. Will it be that of a scientist, or hunted prey?" Quentin makes a move and tells Harrison he is in check. "I don't want to believe it about Julia," he says. Harrison answers "Quentin, if it is true, we may be able to help her. Even in my future where I saw Barnabas, he was able to fight the possession." Quentin answers that Julia may not be as strong. Up in Julia's room, she has tied the scarf around the neck of the doll and says "Harrison Collins.... you will now feel the wrath of Judah Zachary.... and as all Collinses must, you shall die!" She suddenly tightens the scarf. Back in the drawing room, Harrison suddenly starts choking. Quentin asks him what is wrong, but he falls to floor gasping for air. Quentin tries loosening his collar, but Harrison keeps choking. Julia pulls on the scarf tighter, laughing. Harrison manages to croak "Julia....Julia...." Quentin thinks for a beat, and then runs upstairs yelling for Julia. Julia hears him coming, and quickly stashes the doll into a drawer. She opens the door and asks Quentin what's wrong. "Harrison is choking! You must come quickly!" Julia says "Oh no!" and runs out of her room. Down in the drawing room, Harrison is still writhing on the floor when Quentin and Julia return. Julia looks him over and tells Quentin to help her get Harrison on the couch. They lay him down and Quentin asks what is causing it. Julia says she has no idea, "perhaps we should get him to the hospital." Harrison shakes his head and points a finger at Julia, croaking "Julia.....Julia....." Julia says "he's growing delirious." Quentin tells him to try to take slow breaths, but Harrison keeps choking. Quentin looks at Julia and yells "He's dying! You must do something!" Julia watches Harrison.

She smiles and sits by the fire. "Fire burning as the fires of hell..... fires that touch the legions of the damned...." she begins. "Fires that dance and change their form and shape.... I command you to form the face of our enemy..... to become the image of that which seeks to destroy us......" Barnabas watches as she chants. Meanwhile, Harrison is nearly passed out as Julia does nothing and Quentin is frantic. "Where's your medical bag?" he says. "It's in my room... I'd better get it," Julia says. Quentin stops her, looking at her a little suspiciously, and says "No, wait with him here. I'll get it for you." Julia says it's no trouble, but Quentin dashes up the stairs. Julia looks at Harrison and smiles. Quentin gets into Julia's room and we hear him think "What are you doing, believing Harrison... but Julia's reaction was so strange... and leaving her bag behind.... it's like she's not herself...." He looks around for the bag, and suddenly sees a piece of Harrison's scarf sticking out of the drawer. Curious, he opens the drawer and takes out the doll and is shocked to see it. Meanwhile at the old house, Angelique continues her chant as Barnabas watches. "Show your face to me.....show your face to me now....." she demands. The fires blur and start to reform themselves as Barnabas watches, fascinated. Slowly, the begin to form an image as Angelique watches. Barnabas suddenly is stunned and says "Oh my God!" We see the image of Judah's head in the fire, laughing. Angelique runs to Barnabas and shields her from the image. "Judah Zachary!" he says. Back at Collinwood, Julia is watching Harrison choke with a smile when suddenly he starts to breathe again. He starts to catch his breath, much to Julia's surprise. She turns to see Quentin standing angrily in the doorway of the drawing room. He lets the scarf roll out of his hand, as he has untied it from the doll. "Harrison is breathing normally again, I assume." he says. Julia says yes nervously. "Well, then it seems I found the miracle cure without even bringing you your bag," Quentin says, sarcastically adding "doctor!" Julia takes a step back as Harrison and Quentin looks at each other.
Lara Parker's voiceover: "Barnabas Collins has learned of a curse on the entire Collins family, first placed upon the patriarch of the family in the year 1651. The only escape the family has from destruction is if they can defeat the minions of the damned three times through their strength and virtue. But unknown to Barnabas is that one of those minions has taken possession of his trusted friend Julia Hoffman, who on this night, plans to wipe out the Collins family forever...."
Julia walks into a room in Nicholas' house and opens a closet door. Inside on a small pedestal is Judah's head inside its glass box. It opens its eyes as Julia stands in front of it transfixed. It gives a sly smile to Julia as her eyes turn red and she nods back. She closes the closet door as Nicholas walks in. "There you are," he says. "What was so urgent about your return here?" Julia stretches a bit and remarks how "renewed" she feels, and then adds "I came here with the utmost urgency because I've decided we need to move forward with our plans immediately." Nicholas protests that they are not ready, and that they will need to "prepare things at Collinwood." Julia answers "I can deal with Collinwood later. Right now, I must deal with Harrison Collins." She takes the scarf from her pocket and says "And deal with him I will."
After the titles, Stokes looks through some old books as Barnabas watches. "A fascinating story about your ancestor, Barnabas," Stokes says. "If I had heard it from anyone else, I would have thought it a fanciful Puritan legend." Barnabas insists that the story must hold a clue as to which spirit they are dealing with. Stokes answers "You ignore something quite obvious though." Barnabas asks what, and Stokes answers "Nicholas Blair. This is the third time we have had to deal with him and his nefarious powers." Barnabas answers "Yes! According to the legend, the minions of the damned had three chances before they themselves were forever condemned." Stokes answers "Yes, which means if the legend is true, Nicholas Blair has this one last chance to defeat you. He was defeated when he tried to control Adam, and again when we fought the Leviathan threat. This is his last chance, whatever he's attempting." Barnabas looks out the window and says "Adam.... I wonder whatever became of him." Stokes gets a little evasive and answers "We needn't worry about that now. I have a possible answer to narrow our search. It would make sense if Nicholas' helper spirit was also attempting to vex the Collinses a third time. If Nicholas was worried about failure and wanted help, one can assume that the spirit helping him is in the same position." After a repeat of Wednesday's end and the titles, Angelique tells Barnabas that Isaac Collins had originally contracted with "my master" as he set up the village of Collinsport in 1651. We flash back to several men dressed in colonial garb building the docks at Collinsport. Supervising the construction is the young Isaac Collins (David Selby). He tells one of the dockworkers to "keep adding space. I intend for my ships to have plenty of room to unload their goods." He looks at some plans and then at the workmen, but then notices someone wrapped in a blanket sleeping off to the side. Isaac goes over to them and tries to kick them awake. "I'm not paying you to sleep, sir," he says. The man rolls over, and we see that he is not wrapped in a blanket, but is wearing a robe that covers his head in a hood. Isaac looks at him, confused, and then we see that instead of a face, there is only a skull with bloodshot eyeballs inside. Isaac is startled and steps back, but suddenly finds himself in the fiery underworld. Now the hooded figure is sitting on a throne before him. "Isaac Collins...." the hooded figure says, "I have brought you before me to discuss a matter of business." Isaac looks around and then at the hooded figure, and then answers "I have no business with you, if you are who I think you are." "Call me Diablos," he says. "I have forseen a prosperous future for the Collins family. You will start a dynasty of sorts in your world." Isaac says "And that interests you?" Diablos answers "Many things interest me. And there can be many futures. I have also forseen a different future.... where you die penniless, leaving no family at all." Diablos laughs as Isaac wonders what to do.
Angelique tells Barnabas that "her master" forced Isaac into a bargain. Barnabas says "In order to maintain prosperity in the future of the Collins family?" Angelique nods. Back in the underworld, Isaac argues that he has no desire to "sell my soul to you" in order to achieve wealth. "I don't care what you say, demon," Isaac continues. "I know my hard work and perseverance will provide a future for my family." Diablos scoffs "How can you be sure which vision is the true one? You must bargain with me to find out." Isaac thinks a moment and says "You sought me out, demon. What have you got to offer?" Diablos walks around Isaac and answers "I can protect your family throughout the generations.... provided they serve only me." Isaac answers "Is that it? You only require they serve you?" Diablos says yes. Isaac laughs, and Diablos angrily says "How dare ye laugh in my presence!" Isaac answers "You are a poor bargainer, demon. You have given yourself away too easily." Diablos says "Explain yourself." Isaac answers "If you require my heirs to serve you, then my family must endure through generations. Why should I bargain with you at all? You have just told me your vision of my dying penniless is a lie. I know in my heart that I can build my own fortune, and I will. I don't need you. Now get thee back, demon. I will have nothing to do with you, nor will any of my progeny." Diablos answers "I will have much to do with your progeny, Isaac Collins, if thee shall not serve me. I could destroy you now, but that would be too easy. For your insolence, I will vex thy family throughout the generations. They will know the prosperity your 'hard world and perseverance' shall bequeath them, but they will know not happiness." Isaac angrily answers "My family can stand up to whatever you assault them with, demon! They will be Collinses as I am, and will resist your temptations!" Diablos answers "If that is so, and you are indeed right, then we have a bargain." Isaac, confused, says "What?" Diablos answers "Your son, Amadeus....he will be the first to be tested... many years from now. Can you prepare him to resist me?" Isaac answers "You will leave my son out of this." Diablos answers "Do we have a bargain or do I destroy you now? Or do you doubt your own son's strength?" Diablos laughs as Isaac thinks, and then Isaac answers "My son will defeat you, as will his son, and every generation after that." Diablos answers "I will send forth my minions to deal with them. They shall deal with them thrice, and if so defeated by the supposed virtue and strength of the Collins name on the third attempt, then they shall be destroyed forever." Isaac looks at Diablos and answers "No one with my name will ever serve you. You will not win." Diablos answers "It is done!" Suddenly, Isaac finds himself back at the docks. One of the workmen passes him and says "They're coming along quite nicely, sir." Isaac, shaken up, asks him what he said. He repeats himself, and adds "Surely you must be proud to be giving your name to this new port." Isaac nods, and answers "Now I must make sure my family lives up to that name...."

Barnabas says "Then if what you say is true, the spirit we are after may come directly from the underworld." Angelique answers "Yes." Barnabas thinks a moment and says "But you said the lesser demons deal with the Collinses thrice.... that means they will appear on Earth three times. The spirit we are after may have been here before.... unless...." Angelique asks what, and Barnabas says "Nicholas Blair! This is the third time we've had to deal with him. If what you say is true, it's his last chance to defeat the Collins family or he will be permanently destroyed!" Angelique says that's true. Barnabas asks "Does that mean the spirit he brings upon us has also been here twice before?" Angelique thinks a moment and says she doesn't know. Barnabas says "This may be the clue we've needed..." Meanwhile, Quentin walks in on Harrison in the drawing room. Quentin asks him if he's discovered anything about what they're looking for. "Only a hunch," Harrison says. "You still suspect Julia Hoffman?" Quentin asks. Harrison answers yes, and adds "I've planted the seeds of some false fears in her. A test of sorts, I guess you could call it. I think her reaction may tell us what we need to know, one way or the other." Quentin takes a drink and says "I for one hope you're wrong about her. I owe her my life." Harrison answers "You may owe Julia Hoffman your life, Quentin. But if the spirit we are after has possessed her, she is no longer Julia Hoffman." Quentin faces this.
Barnabas tells Angelique that he will need to tell Stokes about the long standing curse on the Collinses so that "he can help me research any common enemies from the past." Angelique tells him that she may be able to locate the spirit they are after by using her powers, but Barnabas answers that they should only risk that as a last resort. He leaves, and Sarah comes downstairs to find Angelique. She asks Angelique what's wrong, and Angelique says "Nothing. Your Uncle Barnabas and I have a lot on our minds, that's all." Sarah asks "Are you having a problem finding someone? That's what I thought I heard you say." Angelique answers "Barnabas went out to look for him. We were talking about Professor Stokes, that's all." Sarah says "Oh. He should be easy to find. Otherwise, I thought you might find them by looking into the fire again." Angelique is surprised to hear this, and says "Look into the fire?" innocently to Sarah. Sarah nods and says "You know how to look into the fire and see where people are, don't you?" Angelique sits Sarah down and says "Sarah, it's very dangerous to talk like that. Knowing how to do such things can make very bad things happen." Sarah asks "Why?" Angelique says "Because sometimes there are bad people who can do such things. We shouldn't do the things bad people do, should we?" Sarah asks "But what if someone good does it? Why can't you do it if you know you're doing something good?" Angelique answers "I don't know." Sarah says "I think you should do good things with what you know. Maggie told me that's why we learn things, so we can help people." Angelique smiles and says "She's right, Sarah. And I think you're right too.... why don't you go up to bed. I'll be up to read to you in a little while." Sarah starts up the stairs and says "Okay! Are you going to help Uncle Barnabas now?" Angelique answers "Yes.... yes, Sarah. I think I am."

Angelique tells him that she may be able to locate the spirit they are after by using her powers, but Barnabas answers that they should only risk that as a last resort. He leaves, and Sarah comes downstairs to find Angelique. She asks Angelique what's wrong, and Angelique says "Nothing. Your Uncle Barnabas and I have a lot on our minds, that's all." Sarah asks "Are you having a problem finding someone? That's what I thought I heard you say." Angelique answers "Barnabas went out to look for him. We were talking about Professor Stokes, that's all." Sarah says "Oh. He should be easy to find. Otherwise, I thought you might find them by looking into the fire again." Angelique is surprised to hear this, and says "Look into the fire?" innocently to Sarah. Sarah nods and says "You know how to look into the fire and see where people are, don't you?" Angelique sits Sarah down and says "Sarah, it's very dangerous to talk like that. Knowing how to do such things can make very bad things happen." Sarah asks "Why?" Angelique says "Because sometimes there are bad people who can do such things. We shouldn't do the things bad people do, should we?" Sarah asks "But what if someone good does it? Why can't you do it if you know you're doing something good?" Angelique answers "I don't know." Sarah says "I think you should do good things with what you know. Maggie told me that's why we learn things, so we can help people." Angelique smiles and says "She's right, Sarah. And I think you're right too.... why don't you go up to bed. I'll be up to read to you in a little while." Sarah starts up the stairs and says "Okay! Are you going to help Uncle Barnabas now?" Angelique answers "Yes.... yes, Sarah. I think I am."
