Episode 1280

Aired: Friday May 21, 1971

After a replay of Thursday's close and the titles, Quentin waits in the drawing room reaching behind his back for the gun, but when the footsteps get louder, it's David, followed by Roger, then Elizabeth, and then Carolyn. Quentin moves his hand away from the gun, and asks David if he is all right. David nods and runs towards Quentin. Quentin examines the side of his neck for bite marks but finds nothing. "Are you satisfied now, Quentin?" Roger says. Quentin stands and says "Where's Anderson? This is between him and me." Anderson enters the room behind the others and says "No, no, Quentin. This is between you and all of us."

"Let the boy go," Quentin demands. Anderson/Petofi smiles and pours himself a brandy. "I have little interest in the boy as you know my dear Quentin," he says. "But someone else is interested in him a great deal." Quentin answers angrily "Then tell her that he's not Jamieson." Anderson/Petofi turns to face Quentin and sneers "Maybe you should tell her, dear boy." Quentin quickly takes out the gun and points it at Anderson/Petofi. "You can tell her in hell, Petofi," he says, but before he can fire, Roger stands in his way. "Roger step aside! Now!" Quentin shouts in frustration as Roger follows Anderson/Petofi's movements. Quentin surveys the room quickly, and maneuvers behind the couch to make Anderson/Petofi and Roger step to the side. As he moves, Carolyn & Liz flank Anderson/Petofi, who drinks his brandy and laughs. "It seems I am surrounded on all sides by your loving family, Quentin," he laughs. "Do you really want to sacrifice any of them?" David yells for Quentin not to shoot, while Quentin holds the gun on them, frustrated.

Anderson/Petofi taunts Quentin, knowing he will not fire the gun, but Quentin glances over at David, and by moving to the side and forcing the group around Anderson/Petofi to move as well, David is given a clear path to the front door. "Go David! Run! Now!" Quentin says, protecting him with the gun as David runs from the room and out of the house. He looks at Anderson/Petofi and says "You failed Petofi! The boy is safe." "The boy means nothing to me as I told you," Anderson/Petofi sneers. "And safety is certainly relative, isn't it?" Quentin wonders about the statement, and doesn't notice that from behind him, the secret panel has opened and Roxanne is slowly moving towards him. Quentin turns to see her, but she manages to knock the gun from his hand and knocks him to the floor with a sweep of her hand. As Quentin sits helpless, Anderson/Petofi and Roxanne stand over him, laughing.

Quentin sits on the couch with Roxanne behind him, holding his shoulders tight. Quentin demands to know what Petofi wants of him. "I only want to give you something, dear boy," he says as he approaches. Quentin struggles to get free, and begs not to be "touched with that hand! I won't let you age me again! Stay away from me." Anderson/Petofi says "I certainly don't want to age you, Quentin. I don't want to harm you at all. I only want to do this." He takes an ascot out of his pocket and ties it around Quentin's neck. "One of yours, Quentin. I took it from your upstairs bureau. You can let him go, my dear," says Anderson/Petofi as Roxanne steps back. Quentin pulls on the tie, confused, but cannot get it loose. As Anderson/Petofi's smile grows, Quentin seems disoriented, and then reels a bit. "What's....happening...no.... no.....NO!" he yells as he passes out. Anderson/Petofi starts to laugh, but as the shot gets blurry, we hear Anderson/Petofi's laughter morph into David Selby's laughter, as he stands up, laughing. We pan over to James Storm, dazed and slowly rising from the floor. He looks at himself, and then at Selby, and shocked, screams "Petofi! You've stolen my body again!" Selby looks at him and laughs with an evil smile.
