Episode 1330

Aired: Friday July 30, 1971

After a replay of Thursday's close and the titles, Jeremiah stands before Harrison. Harrison takes a step back, but Jeremiah does nothing. Harrison seems to lose his fear as he looks Jeremiah over. "Who are you?" he asks, but Jeremiah says nothing. "Your clothes....late 18th or early 19th century, I would think," says Harrison. "Jeremiah steps forward with his hands out, and Harrison steps back saying "No! Get back!" and Jeremiah stops. "I don't know who you are, and I have no quarrel with you. If you consider this part of the house yours and me an intruder, then let me apologize and be on my way." Jeremiah points to the rolled up blueprint and vanishes. Harrison takes a deep sigh of relief, and then thinks a moment before unrolling the blueprint. He reads aloud "Collinwood....completed in the year of our lord 1795 to the specifications of....Jeremiah Collins." He rolls up the blueprint and begins to look around the hallway repeating "Jeremiah Collins!"

Angelique and Liz are having some tea in the drawing room. Angelique tells Liz how much she "loves Barnabas' family" and how happy she is to be living there. Liz remarks how happy she is "for the both of them. Barnabas always seemed such an incurable romantic, I'm so happy he's found happiness with you." Harrison comes down the stairs and is about to pass by the drawing room en route to the library, but sees Angelique and invites himself in. He says hello, and she gets a little uncomfortable. Liz asks Harrison what the rolled up paper under his arm is, and he tells her how he was studying the blueprints of Collinwood "since this magnificent house fascinates me so." Liz says that she's lived there so long, it may have lost some of its mystery to her. Harrison says it's all new to him, and Liz offers him some tea. Harrison says no thanks, since he wants to read a little of the family history in the library. "Are you reading more about the house or the family?" Angelique asks. "A little of both, I suppose," Harrison answers. "I'd like to read more about the man who built this house in the first place, about his life and perhaps the reasons he made some of the architectural decisions he made." Harrison unrolls the paper and reads from it "Jeremiah Collins," before looking at Liz and Angelique and asking "Do you know much about him?" Angelique is not thrilled with the question.

Liz says "Jeremiah Collins! One of our distant ancestors. He designed and built Collinwood, as far as I know." Angelique gets uncomfortable as Liz continues "I know he married once when he was young, to a woman who died in a fire. He remarried, before he died, to Josette Collins, I think. Actually, Barnabas is the one you should be asking about all this. Whatever you can't find in the family histories, he's certainly an expert on." Harrison replies "Really? Perhaps I will discuss it with him." Angelique puts her tea down and simply says "I must be going, I'm sorry." Liz asks Angelique if she is all right, and Angelique fibs that she is tired. Angelique leaves in a hurry, and Liz wonders what might have made her so upset all of a sudden. Harrison says he wonders as well, and then Liz tells him she'll show him where the books he's looking for are in the library. Angelique gets outside the front door and closes it behind her, shaken that Harrison could bring up Jeremiah and the past. She starts to hear the sounds of someone walking in the woods, and as she moves away from the house to see who it is, her eyes open wide as she looks through some tree branches....and sees Jeremiah walking away through the woods.

Angelique thinks "Jeremiah....your very name is enough to bring back untold amounts of misery...but you're not here for me, it seems..." She watches as Jeremiah continues to walk away through the woods, oblivious to her. "I will discover your secret," she thinks to herself as she begins to follow him. He continues walking through the woods, only focused on moving ahead. Angelique follows behind him, being careful not to be discovered. After a while, we see that Jeremiah has reached Eagle Hill cemetery. Angelique approaches the outside of the cemetery thinking "Do you return to your grave each night? No, you can't. Why wouldn't you stay there?" She follows inside, as we see Jeremiah walk to the foot of his grave before stopping. Angelique watches him for a moment, and then we hear the sound of someone else approaching. Angelique peers from behind a tree to see who it is - and then we see the familiar smiling face of Nicholas Blair standing in front of Jeremiah, chuckling quietly to himself. Angelique's eyes are open wide as she sees this, thinking "Nicholas! Nicholas Blair!"
