Episode 1332

Aired: Tuesday August 3, 1971

After a replay of Monday's close and the titles, Jeremiah has hauled Angie in front of Nicholas. He tells her that she needs "to be reminded of the awesome dark powers I hold." Angelique demands to know what he wants. Nicholas tells her that he will tell her more "in due time" but if she wants to be "free of Jeremiah forever" she must "learn the secrets of time that Barnabas has discovered." Angelique cowers at this prospect as Jeremiah releases her. We cut back to Collinwood. Quentin and Stokes arrive, back from their New York trip. Stokes has a briefcase filled with papers, and remarks how "researching all these materials we found with what I have from the Collinsport archives may take a while." Quentin says they "might need to hurry" since he has no idea how any of it might affect Daphne. "But one thing is for sure," he adds. "I must speak to Barnabas....about our newly arrived cousin...."

At the old house, Willie answers Quentin's knock and brings him into the living room, where Barnabas is reading. Barnabas asks him if he found out anything more about Daphne in New York, and Quentin says that they "brought back a wealth of material on the branch of the Collins family my namesake started in the 1840s. Stokes will need some time to sift through it all." Barnabas says he hopes for the best, but Quentin adds "But I came to discuss a more pressing matter. Our so-called cousin Harrison." Barnabas is intrigued. "Harrison?" he says. "Did you discover anything about him?" "No," says Quentin. "Nothing at all. And that is the mystery." Barnabas asks him what he means, and Quentin answers that despite all the volumes of records they examined, "there is no record of a Harrison Collins. It seems that most of the family retaining the Collins name died childless at least a generation ago." "Then how..." Barnabas begins, but Quentin cuts him off. "Don't you mean 'who,' Barnabas? That's what I'd like to know. Just who is Harrison Collins?" Barnabas thinks about this question.

Barnabas says that "there must be some kind of logical explanation as to who he is." Quentin says maybe, and adds "He seems fond of Angelique. Perhaps she could find out more about him..." but Barnabas snaps "No, that wouldn't be the best way. I think it would be better if we found someone he would take less notice of." Barnabas looks over towards Willie and simply says "Willie, I have a task for you at Collinwood." Willie doesn't look thrilled as we cut to Angelique walking up the path to the old house. We hear her thinking "I cannot allow Nicholas to discover the secrets of time....with those powers at his disposal, he could wreak too much destruction. To think that once I desired such powers....how could Barnabas love me? How can I keep this from him and deceive him..." as she is thinking, Willie comes out the door. He excuses himself and says he has to go up to Collinwood. Barnabas sees Angelique and asks her where she's been as she comes inside. She says she's been out for a walk after talking with Liz. Barnabas looks at her concerned, and asks "Are you all right? You seem worried about something." She pauses a moment, but then simply says "I'm fine. Really." Barnabas wonders.

At Collinwood, Willie has sneaked into Harrison's room. He starts to look around, and starts by opening a wardrobe. He starts to look through some of the pockets of Harrison's clothes, but then notices that some of them have price tags attached. Willie runs his fingers over the fabric and thinks a moment. "These clothes....are all brand new...." he thinks to himself. After a shrug, he starts to examine the material on the desk in the room. He unrolls the blueprint of Collinwood, and then sees there is a bookmark in the large Collins history book on the desk. Willie thinks "The plans of the house and the history of the family....what is he so interested in it for anyways? He marked where he was readin'....let's see....." Willie opens the book and his eyes open wider as he thinks "He's reading about Barnabas! All about his parents and family and all the lies about how he went to England....why?" As Willie is reading the book and thinking this, he doesn't notice that Harrison has entered the room behind him. Harrison slams the door to get Willie's attention, and he spins around with a shocked look on his face as Harrison glares at him.
