Episode 1278

Aired: Wednesday May 19, 1971

At the Blue Whale, Barnabas looks down at Quentin's gun and silver bullets and looks remorseful. Stokes tells Quentin that the gun will be more effective at protecting him from Anderson than anything else since it can also keep his servants at bay. "Unless they're willing to die for him as well," Stokes adds, to which Quentin and Barnabas look concerned.

After the titles, Quentin wonders aloud whether or not Roger, Liz or Carolyn would be willing to take a bullet and die for Anderson because of his power. Barnabas insists that "we must never find that out." Stokes points out that "It may be more of a question of whether they thing you would be willing to shoot them to destroy Anderson." Quentin tells Stokes "That's a very large bluff that I'm afraid they may call." Barnabas tells Quentin there's no other choice. Quentin looks at him and asks if there's also no other choice but to destroy Roxanne as well. Barnabas looks sad and meekly says "Yes. We must destroy them both."

At the old house, Daphne is looking out the window at the setting sun and wondering why no one has come back yet. David assures her that they are all well protected, and that no one can get into the old house since they can't cross the barrier of garlic that has been set up. Daphne is skeptical, but David tells her all about the books he has read on the subject, and how "neither a vampire or their servants can cross the line." Daphne tells David she wishes she had his confidence, since she still fears Anderson and "what he is capable of." David tells Daphne not to worry, since Quentin, Barnabas & Julia will be back soon, but he looks nervous as he watches the sun setting.

David is alone downstairs in the old house when there is a knock at the door. When he opens the door, it's Sebastian. David is surprised to see him, and asks him what he wants. Sebastian says he has talked to Quentin and Barnabas, and wants to help fight Anderson. "I know a lot about Roxanne, David," he says. "I think I can help." David asks him to come inside, but Sebastian says that Quentin and Barnabas are waiting for him outside and that there isn't much time. David gets a little more skeptical and asks where they are. Sebastian points off and says "They're out there in the woods. They told me to come and get you." David leans out the door to see, saying "Where? I don't see...." and Sebastian is able to grab him. David yells to be put down, but Sebastian says "I can't do that, David." David struggles to get his silver cross out of his pocket, but he drops it in the front door. Practically sobbing, Sebastian continues "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I just can't do anything I want anymore..." As he turns, we see blood running from two fresh fang wounds in his neck as he carries David off.

Quentin, Barnabas & Stokes return to the old house. Daphne comes downstairs and says she must have fallen asleep. Quentin asks where David is, and Daphne says she doesn't know. Quentin starts to call for him, and there is no answer. Barnabas says "He couldn't have gone outside. He knew not to leave this house after dark! Especially after what happened last night." Stokes picks up the silver cross in the doorway and says "Does this belong to David?" Quentin examines it and looks at Stokes. "It's David's." he says. "Then they have him," says Barnabas as the four of them look at each other.
